My 4 year old laptop has finally given up the ghost and wondered if anyone has any recommendations for a new one which will be suitable for me. Have considered a tablet but think i prefer a bigger screen. I don't do anything fancy on it, usual stuff, ITunes, emailing, shopping, browsing etc. Have had HP Compaq before and had no problems, wondered if anyone has any other suggestions ? (or definate "don't go near these" !!)

Whats your budget?0

Acer are ok, Hp Compaq are fine but you wont get much for your money, Lenovo is ex IBM but arent built great. Toshiba are very well built.
given your budget Id go for Acer or Toshiba if you can get one, minimum 4GB RAM, 320GB HD, preferably a multicore processor.
Ill look around a bit for models that match that.0 -

Have a look at the Toshiba Satellite c850d-11q, have used this on occasion before at work and while not an amazingly stylish laptop it's sturdy and quite light for a laptop it's size, and within budget.
I do agree that Toshiba's are reliable, had one a few years ago and never caused me any troubles0 -
nevermind ....!!
