Ebay Seller Laptop

I don't think that it is the sellers fault.
If anybody's it is Microsoft's for deciding not to include the requisite drivers.
You can often use XP/Vista drivers on Windows 7.0 -
Sorry I am with the seller here - they sold and you bought a working vista laptop. They have no idea what you plan to do with it - for instance if you tried to install odd it wouldn't work either, and possibly some later Linux builds would not work either. What did work was vista, and it was sold as such...0

I agree with Prowla and Paddy.
It's no different to buying a widescreen TV, then getting it home and trying to upgrade the screen size by manually stretching it... then taking it back to the retailer and the buyer complaining that after they destroyed it, it wouldn't work!"The secret of life is honesty and fair dealing.
...If you can fake that, you've got it made."

I'm with the seller also.
Sold as a laptop with a certain software setup, working with that setup, if the new owner tries to modify it to a new setup without reference to the seller, that's not the seller's fault....
If hubby had bought a car, fitted a new ECU chip and overloaded the engine, or melted the brakes due to the extra power, would that be the seller's fault?0 -
Wait a minute. She isn't blowing it up, or stretching the screen. Upgrading a laptop is a perfectly normal thing to do.
Yer all getting a bit giddy.
OP- search the windows 7 forums. I had to do this to make a scanner work. Some vista drivers will work with your setup. It's a long process.
Mind you, I've never come across one that "won't work at all". A bit more info, posted on the tech board, may get you a result.0 -
Not getting giddy - just responding to the OP's suggestion that this is somehow the seller's fault;
"he contacted the seller who states that it is a software issue, so no he won't refund.
But...I wondered if he should have mentioned this was non-upgradable , it does seem a bit sneaky"
Whether the laptop can be upgraded or not is another matter - and as you say, the Techie board is the best place to find help if the OP is interested in a solution.0 -
Thank you sham63, I guess I am really being biased, I can see what you are saying, hubby should have checked it out prior to purchasing. It was a fully working Laptop ...on Windows Vista, the fact that it is NOT at all upgradable could have been discovered via a few clicks ...
Many thanks for such a quick reply.
Merry Christmas:)
