Ebay Seller Laptop

Hi, my hubby purchased a laptop from Ebay, via auction, the PC was advertised with Windows Vista, it came OK, worked OK, hubby tried to install Windows 7 to bring it more up to date (which was his intention all along) It went crazy and now will not work, he contacted the seller who states that it is a software issue, so no he won't refund.
But...I wondered if he should have mentioned this was non-upgradable , it does seem a bit sneaky (I am biased however) thought I would come here and see if anyone can shed some light on this isse. It was not mentioned that it could not be upgraded. It seems a long shot, thought I'd try for him, he is so disappointed.
Thank you

Unfortunately I think the seller is correct here - it's not really fair to buy an item, attempt to modify it and then blame the seller when it goes wrong.
I sold a laptop running Windows XP a few weeks ago - I would be horrified if my buyer came back to me saying it won't run Windows 7!0 -
what does it went crazy and will not work mean!!

To be fair, it does sound like a software issue! Did he check compatibility before installing W7?Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -
Thank you sham63, I guess I am really being biased, I can see what you are saying, hubby should have checked it out prior to purchasing. It was a fully working Laptop ...on Windows Vista, the fact that it is NOT at all upgradable could have been discovered via a few clicks ...
Many thanks for such a quick reply.
Merry Christmas:)0 -
it probably is upgradeable, not that that is the sellers responsibility
if you post what the problem is, you might get a solution!!

Any laptop should be upgradable if there is enough memory and cpu power. Do a lot of googling to find out why yours won't.
Or wipe the drive and reinstall vista.0 -
What is the exact model?
It is likely to be a driver problem.British Ex-pat in British Columbia!0 -
HP Pavilion dv9000 32 bit. There seems to be a bit of a problem with this model, tried google ...0

and the problem is?!!

I believe from what I've found out ,Hp don't make drivers for this model if you wish to upgrade to Windows 7.
Guess it could mean a full clean off and re-install of Vista (arrrgh)0
