I 100% disagree with you. I don't smoke but know loads of people who do. Does this mean i am stronger willed than them? No , it just means i never really started . I am strong willed though as was my heroin addict brother.
These people start taking drugs as teenagers , probably just canabis whih i don't care what people say. it is addictive and leads to other drugs. Wrong friends and problems at home (like our mother dying very young in my brothers case) was the trigger for heroin and once you stop you have no idea how hard it is to get off of it and unlike smoking where people try and help you, the dealers go out of their way to get you back on it. I actually drugged my brother after detox to make him sleep as i knew a so called friend dealer was coming around to see if his naltrixone implant worked!! Needless to say it didnt work(the meleril i put in his coffee as the naltrixone stopped that working too). I had another friend of my brothers who saw me for a while after his death have his windscreen smashed in with a baseball bat as a warning not to give away any dealer info.
And if your owing money and want to stop dont be surprised if you are woken at 3 in the morning with a gun or knife at your neck .So you are not allowed to give up as you now have to work for them (which they will make sure you are still taking and always in debt).
I live in a nice area too , as did my brother . So are they weak ?? I don't think so .They are just unfortunate and anyone including one of your family members could fall into these ways so don't be too judgmental.
I do think that people should pay for their crimes as some get really nasty but again drugs changes people.But when they come off of it they should be held accountable for crimes commited.
My brother was lovely and never stole from us yet after being perscribed from dr methadone and valium(as they can't sleep after for ages) he woke to find loads of food from a local shop that he had stolen and that he didnt remember(stuff he didnt even like). He was really upset about it. So people often don't know what they are doing when on drugs(but again i don't excuse violent acts).
So again i dont agree. They are not weak willed and we should not be so hateful as a lot of these people are really nice but often stuck on heroin because of something that they can't come to terms with.

Mandles your last post made me cry. It really brought back many of the things my brother and us went through. We too drugged (to make him sleep) my brother in desperation, at times he did it to himself to try and keep himself from going out in the middle of the night when he was craving. He too had doors kicked down, he had 'so called' friends offer him drugs again after a detox etc etc. There are so many families still going through this, you and your brother lost your battle, thankfully for now my brother has won his and if people keep being ignorant to it like Emmaroids then people will continue to battle with it. We need more education in schools, more help when in prison, more readily available counselling because the point when an addict says right I'm ready now they get turned away due to having no resources for x amount of weeks or months. The amount of times I sat with the yellow pages just ringing round any organisation that might help and by the time I'd found somewhere it was too late he'd changed his mind, or the dealers had got to him. They sometimes end up dealing because they owe so much and would rather do that than steal but they are condemned for that too, (quite right but surely we can't just condemn and forget its quite obviously a problem) So not much help regards counselling, obviously stealing is wrong, prison is tax payers money, detox is tax payers money so with Emmaroids attitude where do they go from there??
My brother too came from a lovely family we live in a nice area, people shouldn't always assume. I mean I know doctors children and there are famous people and MPs children who are addicted to heroin.
Mandles.. thanks again for your post and your honest insight into some of the things heroin addicts and their families face on a daily basis, I too think your brother was strong because I know some of what he went through.

sorry that i have a very low opinion on heroin users, you lot may (im sure) have a low opinion of me, so what, thats your perogative.
and yes i do have friends and familly, none of which has gone down that road, maybe cos they have a mind of there own and strong willed enough not to wreck there (and others lives).

Emmaroids Just a quick point to make, if you think heroin addicts are weak people were you weak to get in nearly £20,000 of debt?? Not my persoanl opinion but surely there will be some ignorant people out there just like you who think YOU are weak??
I'm not interested in your petty opinions any longer people like you obviously feed off getting this sort of attention. I started off mildly respecting that that was your opinion but then your last post about ODing made me realise what you are and I've nothing more to say on the matter there is only a point in debating things with people if they are intelligent enough to have a sensible argument, yours is just pure ignorance, you have absolutley no understanding of the subject and if I were you I'd try debating subjects you have knowledge of or experince of. You do not have enough information or knowledge on this subject so join another thread because the poor OP was looking for advice for something that is obviously worrying her very much and why you feel you have to rub salt in the wound is beyond me. She didn't ask what do people think of heroin addicts. You are clearly a cruel person who wants people to suffer more than they already are. Well I believe she is suffering enough so like I said find another thread were people are interested in your opinion.

Sorry, but you could also say why should tax payers pay for treatment for people who smoke and get cancer(which is unfair to say) .
I do find it hard to listen to people like you with not a grain of empathy for people in sad situations . I am a huge believer in what goes around comes around so with attitudes like yours don't be surprised if when the cr-p hits the fan in your life you find yourself alone.
Its a situation thats going to continue and get worse as not a lot is done about the large dealers. I grassed on my brothers dealer(who is now dead from a horrible death(see what goes around!) . The police just said "oh his he still dealing?!" and did absoloutly nothing even when i got his address.


Mae. Im so glad your brother made it. He was lucky to have you(seems like these boys would be lost without there sisters!). Like you we should just ignore ignorant comments as some people have no clue . Also like you said addiction can happen to anyone, no matter what class or area you live . My brother was really well loved despite addiction and a lot of the old ladies that he decorated for(and never pinched from or hurt may i add!) adored him and came to his funeral as they were gutted he had died and never even knew he was an addict .They said he was such a lovely lad, which he was. People who say nasty hurtful comments have no clue about heroin addiction so should not be given another thought.

Unfortunately countries such as India and other Asian countries drugs are easier to find than they are here and i mean no disrespect to anyone who comes there, i used to live in Asia in a country that would give the death penalty for trafficking drugs but they were so easy to get hold of, each country has a particular area in each major town which if asked for the information is given freely.

My heart goes out to your brother, i know someone years ago who's wife had a drink problem. She was in and out of rehab but never managed to deal with it until the day came that he'd had enough and walked out. From that day she went back into rehab and has never looked back since, she needed a major life change to help her. They never got back together which was sad as he had really loved her. My heart goes out to your brother, right now he needs allot of love. Speaking as a Holistic Therapist, yes holistic methods can help with relaxation and stress from withdrawal but the main treatment HAS to be medical with trained doctors etc and counsellors, holistic therapy is nto enough to cure an addition such as this on its own. If your brother insists on this kind of approach then suggest he goes into a clinic here and also books massage and other relaxation therapies. I wish him the best of luck.

Would that be the reason you posted this that you are looking for attention? differing opinions make for a good debate but nastiness kills it.

Omg you gotta laugh. I've just noticed that Emmaroids once posted a thread about a cash in hand job and people told him/her to declare it. Emmaroid couldn't see the point!! Something about it only being about £60 or something but it didn't add up really coz surely if there are benefits involved this isn't allowed and if there is another job it has to be decalred and if there is no income at all the tax man still has to be notified?? Thats funny that Emmaroid is now banging on about addicts wasting tax payers money!!! Hello!!!
