Hope this helps - hope I don't sound all preachy and a right know it all:o
no you don't! The information above was really helpful and useful! Hopefully the post will remain as you've given us information and not advice:D0 -
Good morning everyone
Well considering my concerns over OH I slept very well and feel ok this morning. I shall be popping over in a little while to check in on him. Hopefully not too long a visit because I really need to crack on later today, the house is a bit of a tip. I'll have a quick 10 minute blitz before I go.
Had a few more thoughts about my last post. Some people find copper helps - not in the diet but to wear. I wear a copper bangle and it makes a huge difference to my fingers. Then again other people have tried them and say they make no difference.
I also used to wear copper inserts in my shoes when my feet were bad. Again I found them very helpful.
Serrapeptase also helps reduce inflamation. It's an enzyme like bromelaine but whereas Bromelaine comes from pineapple, serrapeptase comes from silk worms.
I've only ever bought these on-line, I've never seen it in health shops. Again it reduces inflammation. Many people tout it as a bit of a "miracle cure".
The first time I took it I noticed a huge difference. This was years ago before OH was ill and I had to start with all the lifting etc.
The second time I tried it the results were a bit disappointing.
So - given that my inflammation markers were insignificant - I am wondering if the first course of Serrapeptase got rid of the inflammation and that it wasn't so effective the second time because there was no inflammation and my problems were muscular.
Who knows - as I say I've found that a lot of these things are trial and error. Arthritis is such a "catch all" diagnosis and a lot of GP's will diagnose and treat it without really investigating very far.
I know our damp northern climate certainly doesn't help me which is why I loved spending time in Spain. We lived near the salt lakes which are very beneficial to arthritis sufferers.
We lived near the coast and there were was some special mud there which was rich in minerals. People would wallow in the mud - very messy, very smelly but wonderful for the old bones and fantastic for skin conditions like excema and psorasis.
I sometimes use mineral bath salts in the bath, not cheap but cheaper than a flight to Spain....
I think that's about everything I've tried but if I think of anything that I've forgotten I'll get back to you.
Anyway time to start the day.
New week, new start.0 -
OH seems ok, a lot more comfortable. He's staying in bed.
Again I'm a bit miffed because although a doctor did call and prescribe antibiotics not all of the carers were aware.
Surely they should be told at the start of their shift, who is a bit poorly, who is receiving extra medication - that kind of thing. The carers can't really be blamed for not knowing stuff if management don't keep them up to speed.
Odd way of running things......
It is blowing a gale here it's blimmin cold. We now live on the top of a hill - no risk of flooding - but I can hear the wind howling and whistling outside. Apparently we're in for a stormy night. y.
So a nice hearty dinner, lots of healthy veggies and just snuggling up by the fire with a good book and a bit of TV. Sod it - keeping warm is the name of the game tonight.
Have booked my physio for tomorrow. About time - I'm walking like an orang-utan again :rotfl:

I have a cracking headache today - no idea why as I've had plenty of water to drink. Certainly put my in a bad mood this afternoon at work. Decided to have a day off exercise as I can feel my arm and shoulder muscles aching after yesterdays move onto L2 Extreme Shred - hoping to feel better tomorrow and I'm having an early night to sleep it off and wake up in a better mood then!final unsecured debt to repay currently £8333Proud to be Dealing With my DebtDFW Nerd 1154 Long Haul 1550

Morning everyone :A
LL that's so kind of you to post that info. A couple of things stood out. I've been sited as having adrenal exhaustion a few years ago. I am carrying excess baggage. And I eat lots of tomatoes. You've given me lots to think about. I'm so so grateful for your post. :A
I really need to get my stress levels under control. And not see things like having a facial as a treat, it's how I like to relax. End of.
The positive is that I'm back to daily walks. I'm realising that stress affects so many things.
My work is very stressful. They like to push people to their limits. I desperately need to get into some hobbies or clubs to switch off.
I think I might start listening to music using my headphones at work when I can too.

Rest and TLC - plenty of it. And of course tackling the issues that are causing the stress in the first place. Easier said that done sometimes of course.:o
It was my physio who noticed that I was suffering from overworked adrenal glands. My neck glands were constantly swollen, sore and tender - a bit of a giveaway;) (Also you can check glands in the groin, under the armpits).
For me it was the result of all the stress looking after OH, dealing with Social Services and nursing homes, financial worries etc
I was living on adrenaline, no sleep, crap food, no exercise.
It's all right for a while. Adrenaline will get you through the emergencies of life but in the long term it is no recipe for a healthy lifestyle.
Prolonged periods of stress can lead to overproduction of adrenaline. Your body willpay the price and it can be a very high one.
I'm glad some of you found that couple of posts useful.
As you know I do not profess to be medically trained - apart from learning from my grannies and my St John's Ambulance badges of course :rotfl::rotfl:
When I was 16 our family GP asked me my plans. When I told him that my parents had organised for me to go to Secretarial College he blew a gasket. He volunteered to get me into his old med school. Apparently he thought I was a "natural" , that medicine was my calling and that I was squandering my God given talents. :rotfl::rotfl:
All well and good I replied but 7 years training is out of the question, I am just a council house girl and we are meant to go into factories or shops. The bright ones become office workers - if they are lucky..... (This was over 45 years ago - girls do get a better deal now, thank goodness).
He had no answer to that one.
Anyway - have fabbed the house, prepared a nice casserole for tonight, off to have a bath and fab up and then attend the meeting with my parents and their solicitor.

A busy but productive afternoon registered with a different job agency then saw an Enterprise advisor who helped me rework my CV completely, brutal but worth it as now have a good starting base.
Got my friend coming tea to best start cooking or it'll be late before we eat.
Hope everyone is staying dry in this awful rain, a lot of big puddles on the road here.

Hi all, just to let you know my lovely mum passed away this morning, after her short but very brave battle against cancer.
I am totally heartbroken.
