  • Hi Chums I am still absolutely chuffed to bits about my bathrooom,I'm having the bath removed and a walk-in shower to replace it, with a seated area as well as standing for any length of time is a problem at times. My mobility isn't great at the best of times and I do have a propensity to fall over quite a bit:).not good when you're living alone and at my age and state of health. I no longer bounce back so easily.I got home tonight to the confirmation letter also another letter from the same place saying that they will come in the New Year to install a stairlift for me.My late OH 's Lodge are responsible for sorting it all out Bless them and so by the middle of January I will have my adapted bathroom and a stairlift which will help me get up and down the stairs more saftley. When the stair chap came the other day to measure up he said that my stairs, although straight up, were at an angle of 49 degrees, most normal ones are around 37-39 darned near verticle and no wonder I had a job getting up and down them.It is an old cottage which is why they are so steep. At the moment I go up on all fours and come down on my butt :):) as I have fallen several times over the past couple of years. The Lodge have been fantastic in their help and I can't thank them enough. My late OH was Almoner of his Lodge and often spent a lot of time and effort trying to help the widows of the Lodge, and now they are helping me .My eldest DD said its like Dad is looking down and saying 'well done lads for helping my missus out'.There are some spectacularly kind folk in this world and it never fails to restore my faith in the inate kindness of people .
To me it will mean I will be able to bathe with more saftey and going up and down the stairs will be so much safer as well.
I shall have to have a word with the Big Guy tonight when I go to bed :)
Hope Jools's OH is progressing a bit better It must be a dreadful worry for her and her family
I'm off now to make a cuppa and think about how lucky I am to have such nice folk in my life ,and that includes all of the smashing folk on here as well
    Cheers chums

JackiieO, that's really good news about the bathroom and the stairlift - it'll give you a lot of peace of mind that you can be safer in your home.

LW, our old boiler always used to breeak down at the most inconvenient times. We had a new boiler about three years ago, but I really do sympathise.

Jools, will be thinking of you.

A day at work today - not quite as bad as yesterday, but still very busy. Sometimes I have back ache, and it's quite painful tonight, I think it's because I've been rushing around so much. My working pattern of Thursdays and Fridays means I'll be back again on 27th & 28th, which is a bit of a pain. But no more work before Christmas, hurrah !

I've managed to make some room in my freezer, so we have a final delivery tomorrow, and we also collect our turkey tomorrow, then we'll heave a big sigh of relief, because that should be everything!

There's only the two of us for Christmas, but it still seems as if there's a lot of stuff to get.

Will be putting my feet up shortly, after two days at work I'm exhausted. I've no idea how I managed to work five days a week until quite recently

  • Evening all
Finally finished & home, very awkward at work today. Someone got drunk at the works do & insulted someone else & everyone got caught up in the fall out. I left work at 3ish, with 2 bottles of wine and a manicure set. I got home & transferred money to the 'bills' account as we got paid y'day, hubby phoned & needed picking up, collected hubby, got home DD phoned to ask if I'd take DGD to gym club whilst she took DGS to a party, we agreed, after gym club we bought a Chinese, £10 (DGD, when asked what Chinese food she liked said 'I want balls please Nana'!) we'd nearly finished it when DD arrived so we gave the leftovers to her to save her cooking.
Finally found time to sit & put my feet up.
My treat tonight is to play with my Tarot cards
    Have a good evening everyone
    Hugs Hester

  • It really isn't DH's week :( he was sitting eating his dinner when the chair collapsed under him  it was only a cheap plastic folding one from Ikea that we have had for 4 years, but it has shaken him up and he has some colourful bruises so I have sent him up for a nice warm bath. looks like we need to get some new chairs tomorrow I can't risk them collapsing under one of the outlaws
Hester there is always some numpty who takes it too far at a works do, better to just stick to a couple of drinks and then you don't have the embarrassment of trying to live it down.
JackieO enjoy your lovely new shower, I have a walk in one but not with a seat attached, I have a separate shower chair that can be taken in and out for when the family want to use the shower. I do miss a nice bath, but the pain is just too much. I had a stair lift, but had to have it removed because it was a danger , I have a turn at the top of the stairs with three risers and the people who installed it didn't put a turn in they put a step instead and DD nearly came down the stairs because of it. I know what you mean about going upstairs and downstairs ala botty, I do it all the time, maybe that is why God gave me such an ample one :p:rotfl:

  • Evening everyone

My last day at work, worked away from the team today covering for someone that was off on the phones. After having lunch didnt get asked if I needed a break or even if I wanted a drink as I couldnt leave the phones. So when I finished I went into office washed my cup(from my drink I made at lunch) and said happy christmas etc and walked out. I am really looking forward to starting my new job in January now. I definately made the right decision. I also spoke out in my exit interview. I just hope no one else is ever treated the same.

Picked up my new to me car tonight, so no more bus for a while, thank goodness.

Need to get organised for christmas now, all presents are now bought but are still waiting to be wrapped. meeting a friend for coffee in the morning then going to watch madness at the 02 tomorrow evening.

os today dw on and nothing else.

Jools - thinking of you and your dh ((hugs)).
Beemuzed - nice to see you posting ((hugs)), hope your dh is coping with his treatment.
Bitsy - I want to come to your house for christmas, so many home cooked goodies.
Jackieo - good news on the bathroom.
Taplady - hope your friend is okay.
Monnogran - hope you have managed to slow down a little, it doesnt sound like it though.
LW - Hope you get your boiler sorted out.

Sorry if I have missed anyone. Hugs to anyone that needs/wants one. Take care.

LW I know everyone is entitled to their holidays, but there is still work days before Xmas and you can pick a boiler up in any Builders Merchants. Maybe Mr LW cold pop into one and ask if they can recommend anyone who may be able to fit one sooner. Hope you can find some method of heating until you get it fixed.

BBrain. Hope DH hasn't done too much damage!!

Sorry bed is calling so just a quick ((((((hugs)))))) for everyone.
