I wasn;t going to post today; however, I rather suspect Coyote, Loki and at least a half-a-dozen other Trickster deities have ganged up on us.... Our central heating died yesterday.:(
Mr LW managed to get a bloke out at 21:30 last night, who diagnosed a dead printed circuit board in the boiler. Bless him, he's managed to source a replacement (it's quite an old boiler), and is in the kitchen with Mr LW as I type, hopefully restoring heat to the Wolf's Lair.
I'm holed up in the lounge with Dave, keeping the little guy out from underfoot - he's so tiny, he'd likely get stepped on.
*sigh* an expense we could do without, but hey, could be worse, it could have been a whole new boiler.:o
JackieO great news about the grant!:T I have to admit, I refuse to part with my bath, as a good soak in hot water is the only thing that gets my joints moving in the mornings; but I do have a bath lift, as it wasn't doing Mr LW's back any good hauling me out of the bath every day.:o
ETA Uh, oh; boiler's beyond salvaging, we have to have a new one; and they can't start til 27th or 28th, so freezing til then.:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(:(If your dog thinks you're the best, don't seek a second opinion.;)0 -
jools hopefully things will start to look up for dh very very soon x
JO great news with the grant are you having a walk in bath ?
judi i know what you mean about 'spreading' my dh does that as does dd2
all my food shopping is done now , sainsbugs had half their veg and salad missing at 9 in the morning presumably sold out  i had to go to another supermarket to finish my shopping  anyhoo its all done now , i was very thankful for the £1 a day fund , it came in very useful :j:j
DDs are revising , so i hoping for a q1uiet half hour0 -
Afternoon all
Jools - thinking of you and OH
LW - brrr, hope it's not too chilly for you til then!
I have finished work for Christmas :j Only went in til lunchtime, then meet friends for lunch, just cheap and cheerful Pizza Hut buffet. It was nice to catch up though, and I got some presents to go under my tree
.
I haven't even thought about Xmas Day food yet really. I have spuds, carrots and the nuts for the nut roast. I really need to get my butt in gear and make a list, then head to shops first thing Sunday morning I think. If I ain't got it then, then I ain't having it!!
I need to do a few bits in the house ready for the girls coming over tomorrow night, tidying and putting up xmas cards. I'm off out later for an Indian with a friend
OS wise - bits n bobs!
Have a good day all

Hi all
Been MIA this week, up to my ears in work....
Sorry to read about the loss of friends and poorly relatives - ((Hugs))
To those of you having a crappy time - my thoughts are with you x
My day started at 6 am after a sleepless night - chistmas always gets me like that - too much to do not enough time.. Hit Mr S and Mr L at 7am got all I needed and on budget, used all my xmas savings and nectar points, was SO nice to spend but not panic about it.
Home by 830, dug the gammon out of the freezer, and after playing kitchen tetris with the purchases, made 2 dozen mince pies, tray of brownies and iced 4 Xmas cakes - I made these last weekend, for some neighbors that lost their OH,s this year, I was quiet chuffed with the results so they now have a HM 4" Christmas cake and 2 HM mince pies each all wrapped and ribboned up, I even made the mincemeat myself. Doesn,t really help with their losses I know, but just wanted to show that we,re thinking of them.
Enough gloating......
Its my birthday tomorrow, but as its so close to christmas, I never really do any thing, this year my darling OH took me to St Malo last weekend, was lovely and a real treat bless him
I just want to be a home-bunny for the next few days, would love to be a SAHM, but need to keep on working, hey-ho I count myself very lucky to have a job at the mo, so many loosing theirs.
I hope you all have a fantastic Yuletide, just in case I don,t get the chance to write, I will, however make time to read - you are all a true inspiration to me and I am very grateful for the valuable information you give - I soak it all up like a sponge.
Next year I intend to clear some debt, not just cut costs, only buy what we NEED etc.
Love and luck to you all xxNote to self - STOP SPENDING MONEY !!

Aren't we all busy little bees.
Judi: I have a DS like your DH. I one read a description of someone that said, "If falling upwards were possible, the air would be full of him." Describes my DS perfectly.
JackieO: What a Christmas present! You will enjoy your new bathroom.
All my sympathy to those who have friends and family fighting illness. I had a card from a very close friend saying that she has, 'a touch of breast cancer'. Just like her to play it down. She lost her husband to cancer when they were both in their early forties so I know what this will mean to her. What an evil thing this cancer is.
Been lagging a bit today. made a beef casserole in the SC that will do in several different disguises until Christmas but haven't started on all the other things I'd intended to do. Will try to get up early tomorrow and wizz around the house and up to the market before 9.am and then get going on some cooking. Puddings for Sunday evening to do plus some mince pies, biscuits and cakes. Also I've not wrapped our family presents yet or the ones for Open Arms. I've bought them all nice mugs that I will fill with sweets and things. Difficult to know what to get them, it's tempting to give them something practical but I think that a touch of something that's a little bit silly and a hint of luxury lifts the spirits. Poor loves, they don't get much of that.
Don't work too hard.

The poster Sistercas first mentioned it, saving a pound a day from January towards cost of christmas
