OS daily Friday 21 dec

Hi, this is the Daily Thread for 21st December. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!

As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Morning all, last day of sending the kiddiewinks to school, so my nightmare begins tomorrow!!!!!

Whenever I think I'm ready for Christmas something else happens, so at the moment although we have a table to sit at, I have dried washing all over the sitting room! Never mind, I still have e weekend to clear up!

Going to have a look at a van this morning and then this afternoon because of working on the PTA I get invited to the final assembly, along with the govenors and everyone who runs clubs. So will be an early pick up and then home to chaos again!! All fun and games.

Hugs to Jools DH and healing vibes. Love and Christmas spirit to all!!

  • Good morning esmf73 and to all who cross/follow,
Bit chilly here but it has stopped raining.
Last day at work today, go back in January.
I have finally got my car back, it cost an arm and a leg. It does feel smooth to drive now though.
Wm is on. I haven't washed dd's jeans, apparently i should have known they needed washing. Never mind, shes in a bit of a strop now. At least when shes like that she doesn't have too much to say to me, so i am still enjoying a cuppa in peace :D.
I will get some baking done when i get home from work as the tins are empty.
I hope everyone has a good day and hugs to those who need them.

good morning everyone and what a happy bunny I am this morning .I have had news that my grant has been passed for my adaptations to start on my bathroom and the builder will start on 7th January. So no more wobbling around hanging on to grab rails whilst trying to shower in the bath. Its the best Christmas present I could have,so I am wandering around with a soppy grin on my face this morning.Today the boys break up and I have a carol concert this morning then all of the lads this afternoon I think I will take my waffle iron round to their house and whip up some waffles for them That always goes down well.
I have bought no food shopping for myself this week at all (apart from some herbs at the farm shop yesterday)as I have barely been at home with all this lunches and dinners out but as I go away on Monday, flitting between both of my DDs houses for a week its not a problem I have just been eating from my cupboards and f/freezer
Weather is looking a bit damp outside but its not too cold at least
Right I'm off to get a cuppa and think of my new bathroon to come
    Cheers chums

best wishes to all who have had bad news and loss, it prompted me to call my ex who has been so busy working away that he has neglected to call in to his grandma who is 96, not very well and whom he was very very close to before he worked away. He has now planned to visit her this weekend.

Mixed feelings on the contract at work, 12 month extension but no renewal at this stage. I cant help feeling our company want out and are waiting on news about another contract at another site before making any firm commitments. I had a chat with my boss and seems there will be a lot of pressure in the early months of next year, people will be expected to take on more work and responsibility. not sure how this will work and not sure yet what I will do, stay or go.... time to think about that over xmas.

Thankfully quiet at work and only today and a few hours Monday and then off till new year. Got a few bits to sort out today and tomorrow and than am leaving OH to do a final shop xmas eve for fresh bits. Just wish it would stop raining it is not feeling very Christmassy at all!

hope everyone has a good day

Hugs to LW, Molly,Jools & anyone else in need.
    G4TD, I love your sig.
Last day at work today & the weather is appalling, we had a automated phone call to say we are on Flood Alert just before 10 last night.
Last night I made brownies as my contribution to the Staff bunfight, I never get chance to join in, but like to contribute anyway.
Someone at work has a family member who has spent the last 4 years worrying about EOTW today, by 11:30 she's hoping he'll be ok, but probably he'll just find something else to worry about.
Time I fed the fish & set off for work.
    Have a good day everyone.
    Solstice Blessing to you all.
    Hugs Hester

So pleased you are getting a proper safe shower system :j We had our bathroom rejigged so we have more of a walk in shower with a built in tiled platform seat and a wall of glass bricks instead of glass. We had to use savings but it was worth it as it feels much more comfortable spacious and safe. Just be extra extra careful till bathroom is sorted.

Did you order anything from B**ts? On the star offer thread they said some orders were being sent out twice.

Just going to tap on dd's door and remind her of appointment at med centre and then make a cuppa before rest of dds surface. Two of them have the day off so want to go shopping at Trafford centre. After getting soaked yesterday I just want a quiet day and a chance to wrap presents and sort out bits for stockings.

Planning a Solstice meal to cheer DH up as he hates the dark nights (and days). Might make spicy lamb koftas with home made rolls and sweet potato soup for tonight. Another dd comes home tomorrow for a few days so need to tidy spare room and make up bed etc.

I still have home made soup in fridge so we can have some for lunch and might do a spanish omelet as well.

    Hugs to all

    Morning all,
The fields out the back of us have turned back into a lake, a few weeks ago there was a photo in the national papers of our friend on a jet ski, bet he'll be back on it this w/end.

Have made 36 mince pies, the top pastry cut into stars and trees, to take to DGD's play group. They are having their party and carol singing today so I'll be there at 12.30 then bring her back as she is having a sleep over here tonight.

DH is having a fasting blood test at 9.30 just a regular thing since he had the TIA (mini stroke) He's gasping for a cuppa so I'll have one ready for when he gets back from the Docs. MEANMARIE, How has your DH been since he had his, hope he's fully recovered.

Last bit of washing done until after the festives. I have sorted out what DH and I will wear for everyday until friday so I get no suprises of DH wanting to wear a certain shirt/jumper/trousers. I must get out more often !
JOOLS, Possitive thoughts still on the way, hope you get some good news today.

TINA MALTESER. Well done to your DM on her win.
JACKIO Great news about your shower etc. Bet you can't wait.
    Have a good day all.

    morning!

JackieO - great news about your bathroom:j

(((hugs))) to LW, Jools, MeanMarie and Molly and everyone else who needs one x

Busy day again today - off to do my cleaning job this morning, meeting my friend for coffee then taking DS to work and doing the food shop.

Trying to get all the washing upto date - the ironing pile is another story:cool:

Roads flooded round here, will need to take a detour tomorrow to get to work.

DH took me shopping yesterday and bought me lots of lovely clothes in the Debenhams sale:) I've been really spoilt:) but obviously I'm worth it;)

Have a lovely day all x
    Do what you love :happyhear
