Have you made a formal complaint to the passport agency OP, and had a response in writing from them? The passport agency made the error, not BA or airport staff when you arrived to take the flight.

No am waiting to see the full response from BA. Apparently they could of done a simple check as its happened in the past. Passport office will not offer compensation if an individual has been compensated so will see if and what BA offer in terms of compensation before making a formal complaint to the passport office

Worse case scenario I just get my money back, best case first class flights for 2 :)

How silly - you know who is truly at fault, yet you chase another party?

I know BA's compensation policy well, and can tell you this will not happen (although I am not doubting you may claim they have granted your request!).

I was told previously I wouldn't get my money back and I have! I'm chasing BA for my treatment plain and simple!

I may claim? Should I get any joy I shall provide proof same if it goes the other way!

Thanks to all armchair experts for their advice luckily I sent email before I posted or I probably would of been spooked by the negativity

You don't have to be an expert (armchair of otherwise) to realize that an incorrect passport can never be the fault of the airline. Informing you of this is not negativity, it's simply telling you the facts. And it isn't changed by how much or how little you are offered by BA.

Where did I post that its the airlines fault my passport has an error? I wasn't happy with the treatment I received from a company that prides itself on customer service! They have admitted the whole thing was handled wrong, procedures not followed etc - let's see what the investigation brings

I can guarantee you the vast majority of people wouldn't know the difference between "British subject" and "British citizen".

I wouldn't know the difference myself, but when I applied for ESTA and it asks the question, I input 'British Citizen' because that is what was printed in my passport.

The original error was obviously made at the passport office when the passport was issued, but if the OP had completed the ESTA application with the information as given in the passport would this error not have been flagged up then? Then the situation at the airport could have been avoided.
