Ordering a TV from John Lewis - what if it's cheaper in the sale?

Hi,
I am planning to buy a fairly expensive TV from John Lewis (they seem to be competitive and I've had good service from them in the past).
However, the earliest delivery slots are after Xmas and I understand that their online sale normally starts on Christmas Eve. Some of the other TVs are flagged as being reduced in price until Dec 23rd (presumably to encourage purchases before the sale), but this model isn't so, although it is competitive, there is no suggestion that the price will go up after Dec 23rd.
I'd really like to get the TV soon, but if there is a significant discount on Dec 24th (which is before the earliest delivery slot), then I'd obviously like to take advantage of that (even if I have to wait a few days longer for delivery).
So, I was planning to place an order (hopefully for delivery on Dec 28th) and then, if the price drops on Dec 24th, either cancel the order and place a new one, or hopefully re-negotiate for the sale price.
Is there anything to stop me doing that? I assume not, because I must be able to cancel when ordering online and the product has not yet been dispatched, but I just thought that I should check in case I have missed anything.
Any advice would be much appreciated.

You are covered by DSR regardless - so even if delivered, you Gould ask for a refund (but may have to pay for the collection).0

It may be a bit of hassle, it may be as simple as a single phonecall.
JL are well known for their good customer service.
Stupid question but is there not a reason you couldn't wait until the 26th? this is when the January sales tend to start.Thinking critically since 1996....0 -
John Lewis's "Never Knowingly Undersold" policy gives you 28 days in which if you find the item cheaper they will refund the difference. That applies to items purchased in JL as well.0

Bit of a long story, but I am currently without a TV (not great over Xmas) so I really want to get one delivered ASAP.
I think that the TV is a fairly new model so I'm not sure whether it would be included in the sale, and I'd hate to wait another few days, and then find that it isn't even in the sale.
Having done a lot of research it is definitely the TV that I want to so it's just a case of getting it as quickly as possible but, because delivery will be after Xmas anyway, I would wait a few more days for a better price.
So, I want to lock in an early delivery date if possible, but have the option to cancel and re-order if the TV does actually go into the sale.0 -
Why not ask JL if the TV is going in the sale? They may know."If you think it's expensive to hire a professional to do the job, wait until you hire an amateur." -- Red Adair0

Looks like Neilmcl's post covers most eventualities. Just stop looking the day after 28 days expires. That's the day you find it for 50% off.Thinking critically since 1996....0

Just remember that unless the TV has a 5 year guarantee on it from a competitor they wont price match0 -
Just don't moan if the price goes up, seeing as jl don't really do "sales" they either bring in special buy items, sell off soiled stock, or match competitors.0
