you cant have it both ways!

Either buy it now and dont look at sale prices, or wait...

Just don't moan if the price goes up, seeing as jl don't really do "sales" they either bring in special buy items, sell off soiled stock, or match competitors.

You know what, I sometimes wonder if people actually know the name of this site.
The greater danger, for most of us, lies not in setting our aim too high and falling short; but in setting our aim too low and achieving our mark

I know this section is called "Consumer Rights" not "What The Consumer Wants to Hear".

Vyle's post is pertinent as there is no guarantee the OP will save money by waiting, and prices can move both ways.

I agree hcb's post is wrong, due to the right to return under DSR (though return costs may outweigh any savings if applicable)

hcb42's posts is wrong but has nothing to do with DSRs, it's because of the fact that JL will give you 28 days to find a cheaper price after purchase and refund you any difference.
  • Thanks very much for all of the help.

I decided to go ahead and order the TV, only to find that they were out of stock! :)

Anyway, I decided to treat myself to a bigger version of the same model and have ordered it with delivery after Xmas.

I thought I had read that the sale started online at 5pm tomorrow, but I can't find confirmation of that. I will just wait and see what happens. I'll also keep my eyes peeled for the TV going in the sale elsewhere.

Thanks again for all of the advice, including that about the price matching that John Lewis provide which was extremely useful to know.

Yes, the sale starts tomorrow at 5pm. When an item is out of stock just before this, it can mean it will be in the sale.

Yes. There is no cancel order button, but I am hoping that if I do find it cheaper elsewhere that I can just call them and get the price adjusted, rather than having to go through the whole cancel and re-order cycle.

    Thanks for the confirmation.

The TV that I originally planned to get said that there were 8 in stock, then it said that it was out of stock, then 1 appeared in stock earlier today, but was gone a short while later.

If the smaller version goes in the sale and the bigger one that I have ordered doesn't, I might consider going back to the smaller one.

I guess I'll just have to wait and see.
