Slightly OT, but can someone tell me which courier Debenhams use? I've just taken a delivery, I'm very cross and want to put in a complaint.' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0

The last order I had dropped off at the wrong place was by HermesSmoke Free since 13th September £1400 better off :beer:0

must say was surprised Debs started so early. however they never stopped having a sale since the summer just like the rest of the highstreet!
i think it's more of a 'teaser' sale though as not everything is in yet, e.g, beauty.
i prefer the sales to start before xmas though. Boxing day is far too much hassle.0 -
I loved the days when January sales started in January, when shops were closed on Sunday and everything was shut by 5.30. I don't work in retail but feel so sorry for everyine who has to work over Christmas.
Most people have a limited disposable income - we don't spend more because the shops are open longer.0 -

Yeah, it's Hermes....and they are hopeless beyond belief. My daughter has had a makeup set replaced 3 times, because every delivery it's been broken. Ended up taking it back to the shop in Sunderland, and the dept. manager said that she was fed up having to replace broken goods that had been home delivered.
Have to say though that Debs is not totally blameless as their packaging is woefully inadequate. It's fine if you're buying clothing etc. but anything potentially breakable and IMO they just don't pack things well enough.0 -
It must depend on the packer. I bought some crackers which were covered in a huge amount of bubble wrap!0

Thank you for the info.
I'm so, so upset. Ordered two sets of wine glasses for my mum's Christmas gift, over two weeks ago. Finally arrived today. Well, one did. The guy handed it over and said "I think it might be broken", I asked why, he said "No idea". What - you've no idea why you think it's broken? Something must make you think that? He stared at me as if I was crazy.
I asked where the other package was, he said they returned it as it sounded broken. He said they'd send a new one, I pointed out that I needed it for Christmas. His response? "You're not a happy bunny are you?" He laughed.
I asked about refunds and he said - I quote - "shall I get my dad"? !!!!!!, are you 12? If he knows something that will help, get him. If he doesn't, then don't - but don't ask me. I don't know your dad and whether he's worth getting!! (Obviously I didn't say that.)
Opened package to see if I should refuse delivery, all glasses totally smashed.
Dad arrives, smoking outside my door. Apparently he knows all about deliveries.
"Should I refuse delivery, or take and hope I can exchange in store". "Don't know, love. But don't blame us, they deliver the packages to Weybridge, then to Gatwick, then we pick them up, then we take a few days to deliver..."
Poor packing, but the courier was so casual, so unapologetic, so unhelpful, and admitted they'd had the package for three days - three days in which I could have found a replacement. Now I have one day, as I have to take presents to my parents on Sunday. Grrrr.
Rant over. *sigh*' <-- See that? It's called an apostrophe. It does not mean "hey, look out, here comes an S".0
