7am Boxing Day is so awful for the staff. Why can't they open at 10am? Is there no such thing as a Christmas Break now if you work in Retail?

Had to comment, your right, if you work in retail you don't get a christmas OR new year break unless your rota falls right, at least THE ENTAINER gives its staff sunday's off but retail like a lot of other proffesion's don't get a break and you still get customers complaning that you are shut on christmas day:eek: Everyone should give a thourght to all that have to work over the festive period.

Tell me about it. I work in in a hotel and have to start at 7am Christmas day or work until 10pm. Same as christmas eve and boxing day. It's fair though as the manager has the day off!

I really hate the fact that retailers start their online sale on Christmas day. It should be a relaxing day for everyone.

I used to work in Debenhams in the days that there was no Sunday opening. It was great to close at 6pm on a Saturday and not re-open until Monday morning!

Retail has changed so much - very unfair on the staff who do not wish to work Boxing day.


When I was in Debenhams it always remained closed on Boxing day and the sale always started on 27th December.

I went in today and that have started reducing ready for boxing day, looked like 30% off
