Another post from another newbie when its not worth creating the thread in the first place.
Remember a few years ago when commentators told us to complain more and we were all too polite?
Well I hope they are happy now we seem to have millions of this type of 'spoon fed' op who see every opportunity to moan or go over the top about small, tiny irritants in life.
Op, don't have sleepless nights it's 4 days !!!!!!.0 -

When I enquired via phone I was informed that this is customary and everyone is treated the same. Surely this is stealing in the worst form. Any comment would be welcomed
Please do not be put off by the negative reactions above. There is some explanation amid the unnecessary feeback to a new poster.Few people are capable of expressing with equanimity opinions which differ from the prejudices of their social environment. Most people are incapable of forming such opinions.0 -

It has. But don't worry, it'll be asked again.wavydavy56 wrote: »My wife`s date of retirement according to the pension service is 06/01/2013 however It will not become payable until 10/01/2013. When I enquired via phone I was informed that this is customary and everyone is treated the same.
That's correct.wavydavy56 wrote: »Surely this is stealing in the worst form.
From whom exactly?wavydavy56 wrote: »The point I was making is that she will not get the 4 days pension she is owed.
She isn't owed it, her pension isn't payable until 4 days after her birthday.wavydavy56 wrote: »Multiply that by a few million and who are the mutton heads?
Oh I see. There is no rich uncle called the 'government'. If one set of mutton heads are paid a bit extra in pension, all that means is that another set of mutton heads have to pay a bit extra in tax. Or even the same set of mutton heads come to that. Please do not be put off by the negative reactions above. There is some explanation amid the unnecessary feeback to a new poster.
Well the man did say;wavydavy56 wrote: »Any comment would be welcomed
so he can't really complain if people have taken him at his word.0 -
If you think the State Pension is a Rip Off, Do not EVER get involved with a personal private pension, you will eventually realize (when it's to late) which is the best pension you could get involved with.

What a complete load of Cobblers.
Enjoy being poor in retirement. Enjoy paying tax on every penny you earn. Enjoy putting 800 into an ISA when it would have been 1000 into a pension (which would cost you only 800). Enjoy losing 40 years or more compound interest.:rotfl:0 -
Ill tell you what a rip off is its called us paying from the private sector into gold plated public sector pensions whilst those in the public sector pay nothing into ours how many public sector workers do you see actually work till their normal retiring age ...... No a lot take it early some even going back doing the same job working for a private set up this happens alot
I know of one in the civil service whose drawing in excess of £100 k a year in their Whitehall pension all for a 3 percent contribution0 -

State Pension (rip off)
if you think you are being ripped off just don't accept it tell them to keep it.
Anyway, maybe this will help explain the payment day.
Your payment date is linked to your National Insurance Number.
The table below shows the allocated paydays.
Your state pension becomes payable on the first allocated payday following your SPA.
It is then paid each week on your allocated payday thereafter.
Last 2 numbers of NI number Payday
00 to 19 Monday
20 to 39 Tuesday
40 to 59 Wednesday
60 to 79 Thursday
80 to 99 Friday
So, if your NI number ends with 56, your state pension will begin on the first Wednesday after your SPA.
This is really helpful thank you, but come on guys this site is normally very helpful and friendly! It's Christmas so let's be nice and if there's nothing more positive to add.
Then, "Happy Christmas" everyone and thank you for all the time and effort you put in to making this site such a great success.

And they tell us all "You must have a private pension and not expect the taxpayer to keep you".Well A state pension should be enough to live on after paying tax and insurance all your life?.
Yes a lot of people dont even get to retirement age,or not long past it,all those contributions for nothing.Thats what the government want i think by putting retirement age up hoping we wont live to draw it.0
