I apologize if this has been asked before. My wife`s date of retirement according to the pension service is 06/01/2013 however It will not become payable until 10/01/2013. When I enquired via phone I was informed that this is customary and everyone is treated the same. Surely this is stealing in the worst form. Any comment would be welcomed

so is the problem that she gets it 4 days after, or 4 days wont be paid. either way you have bigger problems than that....Target Savings by end 2009: 20,000
current savings: 20,500 (target hit yippee!)
Debts: 8000 (student loan so doesnt count)
new target savings by Feb 2010: 30,0000 -
Don't worry, she'll get the missing days when she dies.0

I am in a similar position, I think. I have opted to be paid weekly. I think I have to wait 9 days to get my first payment. I would imagine that it will reflect the extra two days, but if not, oh well!
I have just lost a very close friend of mine who died not long after attaining state pension age, so I am just chuffed to get to this age and be healthy. I think I will survive without the extra days. It might mean that I have to do without a bottle or two of wine over Christmas tho, in preparation. LOL.0 -
She retires on a Friday and her pension begins on the following Tuesday. What exactly is the issue?0

I so , SO echo that, I lost my best friend shortly after she got her pension. I was older by a couple of years and we had so many plans for what we could do when she got her buspass too, I DID drink a few bottles for her though.Slimming World at target0 -

How can you call this stealing? Pensions as any benefit is now paid into Bank Accounts, this can take up tp 5 days, after due date.Slimming World at target0 -
The point I was making is that she will not get the 4 days pension she is owed.
Multiply that by a few million and who are the mutton heads?0 -

I think that sometimes we should just get on and not sweat the small stuff.
I used to get wound up about having to wait longer than I used to think I would to get my pension but now I am just glad to get it, to be honest. A couple of days is neither here nor there when you think that some people are having to wait till they are 66 or beyond.0
