Step-parent am I wrong?

The key is the difference between having an opinion and sharing it, and making a parental decision against the parent's wishes. I assume from the OP that it was the latter that had taken place.
My kids are close to their step-mum, but I am grateful that although caring and affectionate towards them, she has never imposed her educational views on them. Grateful because we have very different opinions on things.
I don't expect my partner to support my children, hence why I continue to work full-time in a demanding stressful job although together we could afford for me to go down a day or two. I do agree you can't have it both ways, but in my mind, my children are and always will be my responsibility (and their dad, but he fails greatly in that regard!).0
