:(Latest response from Curry's:
Hoover only have the one job on their repair history for you which is this current job dated back to 07.12.12 <Note: There have been four seperate visits to my house that are covered under this single 'job'>. As this is the only job they have for you they would not write the machine off at this point. They would probably need to have at least 3 separate repairs for you before they would even consider to write the machine off. At this stage they would be looking to book another call out. My only suggestion is at this point if you want to have the machine exchanged under the first year of the purchase is to return to the point of sale which in this case would be the store where you bought it from and ask the manager for an exchange. You are more than welcome to speak with them about this but I would advise that they would be reluctant to offer anything as you have only had the one repair. I understand your point on this and also having two kids to look after but Hoover will just see it as having the one repair and we cant overturn that decision until a serious breach of repair history or time frame has taken place.
Regards
I have reminded them that I have had four visits over a one month period and I still do not have a working machine, and asked them what would constitute a 'serious breach' or timeframe and await a response.
I don't feel I am getting anywhere with Curry's/Hoover and I cannot afford to continue to make arrangements to be at home for engineers for a long period of time. Any thoughts on next steps?0 -
Time to send a "Letter Before Action". Inform them that under the SOGA they are obliged to provide a remedy that doesn't cause a significant inconveniance and should be completed within a reasonable time period, neither of which they have succeeded in. Tell them that you now require a different, suitable remedy such as a replacement and time is of the essence. Inform them if they don't take action within, for example, 7 days you will be forced to take a small claims action against them.0

Just to let you know, Hoover came back out again on Friday and this time they have fixed the washing machine properly! Needless to say, I have spent the weekend catching up on washing (joy!). I have submitted a complaint to Curry's requesting some compensation for the out of pocket expenses I incurred (phone calls, launderette) and hopefully once that has been considered I should be right back where I started before my kitchen started flooding!
Thanks to everyone who offered advice and support.0
