Hi Jexybird
I can't see you on the first page are you sure it was this challenge you were in? Maybe it was the MFW 2007?
I have just had a search on the MFW boards and have come across the one that I was on, but it has now finished!
As that has finished, can I join this one?

This one is running for 3 years and we only have 13 months left now so not worth joining. How about looking at the MFW2008 (if that is still running) or Financial Bliss's one that starts in December. Good luck and well done with how far you have come.Save £12k in 25 No 49

Hi,
Well done to everyone who has paid off their mortgage and well done to all of you who keep chipping away at it.
I joined this thread a while back (MFW 144), but didn't keep updated so have probably been taken off the list!
Please can I come back..... promise to keep updated this time!!!
Hubs and I are on a mission to pay off all but a couple of £'s (just in case we want/need to move, buy to renovate etc, so we then won't get any mortgage set-up fees and it will cost next to nothing to keep it going.). We want to do this in 3 years, or less if possible!
Currently, after a large payment today we are now down to £63,700, so that is my starting figure - if I'm allowed back!!:rotfl:
Hi Jexysbird
Zavarony has taken up the reins of the MFW overpayment thread for 2009 and guess what? Your still on it!
http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showthread.html?t=1259563
Suggest you set your target for 2009 and PM her. We are trying for a cool £1m in overpayments for 2009 and could do with as many as possible setting 2009 targets.

Hi Smiley - Thanks for finding me!! I shall go over there now!

I've done a mini update on my sig but will update further when my wages and cheques clear. Still looking reasonable though.
I have seen a lovely bungalow down the road from me. It's right next to the park and has a nice big garden. It's on for £245000 but needs at least £40k to do it up. I think it is part of a deceased estate as the garden looks derelict. Annoyingly enough I think it is at least £50k overpriced. The back garden is 100ft long and the EA's are advertising it has having a suitable building plot in the rear. It's not big enough for that but I reckon that's why they have priced it so high. I have looked around and properties that are finished and similar size and location are on for the same price. They even have the same size gardens so I think it'll be sitting on the market for quite some time!
I've mentioned it to DH but don't think it's an option even if we were able to get it for £190k. If I thought I could get it for £190k then I would move heaven and earth to get our house finished and sold so that I could have this place. So, I'll sit tight, watch it and keep overpaying the mortgage.

Your post reminded me of something I would have written until recently!
I was forever finding houses I would like to buy and do up so I could have my dream house but a combination of very low income at the mo and knowing it would be very difficult to sell our current house means I haven't looked at an estate agents website for months! ( feel very proud!)
In some ways I feel better knowing I am staying put for a while. At least I have made a decision and am more inclined to get involved with things locally. Have even got round to putting my daughter's name down for her local school.
Hope you do get it tho. Sounds great. :cheesy:Member of mortgage free in 3. £13,000ish to go on mortgage but now running out of  money! Hard slog for this last bit!0 -

you're right - what's for you won't go past you...however, it wouldn't do any harm to get the current house up to scratch a bit sharpish:pMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Oooo that sounds exciting. Good Luck with that;):D0 -
Following on from shazzany - we're staying put too for the moment and it actually hurts too much to look at what's suitable on the market!! Booking a holiday in France earlier today won't help me in this challenge - smack my botty! - but hubby & I felt we need it.
Anyway, at least I'm self employed in an area where sales on the increase as are the number of people needing to make extra dosh! On another positive note, today was quite good emotionally - not too many butterflies in the stomach.Struggling too much wears a body out
