Wow well done 1274 that's brilliant for you and inspirational for the rest of us.
I'm desperately trying to stick to my promise to myself to pay 1/3 of any extra cash at the mortgage. My fixed rate is very high comparatively so this is clearly the best place for the money to work hardest but the uncertainties at the moment make you want to hang onto cash in case the worst happens. I'm being pulled in both directions at once. I think I will pay off the money though. I have a rainy day fund of 5k separately so to hold more than that in cash just because I feel nervous is silly really.MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -

Thank you all for your warm messages and congratulations. As a side effect of paying off my mortgage, I now feel a much stronger need to reach out and be good to people (not that I wasn't before, but this is just more so). Perhaps it's because the huge stress of worrying about the debt has just suddenly gone away, leaving more room for everyone else. So I'll start with wishing everyone on here the best of luck with clearing your own mortgages with a gentle reminder not to give up hope if the balance never seems to go down. It will and you'll feel so good once you pay it off!2009 CLEAR MORTGAGE:starmod: (17/2/09) LIVE ON 4K Q1:staradmin(£5,405) SAVE 30K (£9.500)0

Hi,
Well done to everyone who has paid off their mortgage and well done to all of you who keep chipping away at it.
I joined this thread a while back (MFW 144), but didn't keep updated so have probably been taken off the list!
Please can I come back..... promise to keep updated this time!!!
Hubs and I are on a mission to pay off all but a couple of £'s (just in case we want/need to move, buy to renovate etc, so we then won't get any mortgage set-up fees and it will cost next to nothing to keep it going.). We want to do this in 3 years, or less if possible!
Currently, after a large payment today we are now down to £63,700, so that is my starting figure - if I'm allowed back!!:rotfl:
