    Hi there,

    No 29 checking in.

    Current balance £49,222 (Yes, I'm sub-£50K!!!!!!)
    Original Balance £65,000
    Paid Off £15,778.

I am so pleased with this. Even though I won't clear the balance by the end of the challenge, I will have made a serious dent in ot and I expect to be able to clear it by the time my DS leaves high school in 2012.

I don't want to wish my life away, as I quite like it at the moment :p but this will mean that a couple of years after that, say, in 2014, I will be mortgage free and child free - assuming DS goes off to Uni at 18.

I never did the travelling thing in my youth, so I would like to do that.

I'll keep on plugging away, though I have some major expenses coming up next year. I'm getting married in June, my boiler is nearly 20 years old and although it is working fine at the moment (touch wood!) I need to plan to replace it. I also need a new bathroom and I want some landscaping doing in the garden. I estimate all of these to cost me about £10k so next year's overpayments may not be as much as this year's. However, I will be happily married in my warm home with a swanky new bathroom and a garden I can use. :D

I'll email Tall Girl right away.

    Hi all,
Just got my mortgage statment through - what timing!!
Although we are not making overpayments anymore until after our wedding next April thought I would still keep the updates going :)

    Anyway I'm member no 82...
    My balance is now £107,150.55

So we started with a mortgage of £109,825 in April 2007....
That means that we have paid off £2,674.45.
We aimed to reduce the mortgage by £2,500 so we have exceeded that!

Can't wait until after the wedding to start hammering it some more! :)
Only problem is we are remortgaging next year (fixed interested deal ends!! can't afford the estimated increase) but by the time all of the charges etc are added on we will be back where we started balance wise so I hope this doesn't mess up the chart too much for everyone!!

Everyone else keep it up - you are all doing brill! :)

OK, I've added the interest onto my snowball for this month so I have accurate figures.
We are still in debate about whether or not to have a wood burner installed- I'm happy to go for a cheaper freestanding one but DH is now looking at having an open fireplace fitted. If I can't persuade him to go for a stove then I think we'll just block it off as I don't really want a fireplace in the dining room, think it'll get too cold in there if I do. Any thoughts guys?
    Update time then!
    Debt at outset £92727.75.
    Debt now £73050.96
45.75% or £19676.79 of target repaid.
Well it's coming along isn't it? Can't wait to get this monkey off my back and I can't believe we're 1/2 way through- it's crazy!
