  • We can't afford to that unfortunately, because believe me we would if we could but we're really quite poor compared to this time last year. I spoke to the estate agent for the house we want and he says that the market has actually picked up over there, still, there is always hope! Fingers and everything else crossed!!

Thanks for that. Our offer has already been accepted so we know it's worth a bit less than our current house - we just need to sell ours! Anybody want to buy a 3-bed semi in Edinburgh?

Before we drop off to page two I thought I would come and say a quick hello fresh back from seeing the family in Denmark. We did lots of shopping and got all the assesories for our bathroom, lovely stuff much nice than what we have here.

    Quick money questions please:
    1. I have taken a wad of Danish Krone with me to put into a savings account in the UK as the one I have in Denmark is rubbish. I need easy access to it so was going to get a Barclays ISA at 6.5% but I understand that has now been cut. I am not too keen on Icesave but does anyone else know of a good ISA. Alternatively I could just stick it in my offset account.

    2. I need to convert my Danish cash to £ it is about £3500 but as I did not buy it here I cannot use buyback at the Post Office etc. Anyone know of a good place to convert currency? I look at Martin's guide but that is all about buying it not selling it.

Hiya....we've had a good month this month. We're below £100000 finally!
We're down to £97999!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! We haven't reached our target but paid off much more than we would have done xx
  • TG - I don;t know about buying but I've consistently got best rates from Thomas Exchange Global, and they do less run of the mill transactions, like when I wanted to pay in dollars for our safari to a dollars account held in the UK (saved myself abput £40 on the exchnage rate given to me by the holiday company even taking into account the fees) Their actual branches are in london though so it may not work for you.

Another vote here for Thomas Exchange Global (branches in Strand and Victoria - you're not planning any trips to London in the immediate future are you?)

    Mudbath - CONGRATULATIONS on getting sub 100k! :j :j :j

I made my 3rd overpayment at the weekend - that's £1,500 in total now :)

    All righty!
Carolt - bit of a headcase - trouble is she's sneaky and sounds plausible; sorry you got targeted - it's pretty typical she resents anyone who buys a house regardless of personal circumstance. Regardless of overall economic situations people have personal timetables and scenarios that weight the sums. Lots of rational, long term posters get targeted, she particularly seems to dislike those with sane arguements. I did read the post befor eposted and yep knew what you were saying. Everythings slanted with her own agenda the separate houseprice board is quite good - keeps them off the main board, if these people genuinely cared about the housing nightmare this country's in she'd be offering decent advice to tenats screwed over tryign to beat the system but it seems jealousy and resentment against those working in spite of the situation that riles her... sorry to see you dragged down.
