Yipee! Balance as of today is £19,816. Sub £20k at last!
Ex board guide. Signature now changed (if you know, you know).

  • I was wondering myself whether to change my target from £150k to something more achieveable (things in the Dither household have changed since the start of the challenge and so I won't come close to paying off the whole mortgage). I might go with "Reduce mortgage from £150k to £60k", which is a challenging target, but more achieveable.

I know that there are others who have either over estimated or under estimated their challenge targets, so perhaps we should all re-evaluate our targets at the half-way mark and update the OP and TG's spreadsheets accordingly?

    What does everyone else think?

note: I somehow missed TG's post prior to mine... I think she's right about changing the targets. It doesn't matter what we hoped to do and have either underachieved or overachieved, we've all done really well so far on our challenges and we're only half way through!! :)

While I'm going on, I'd like to thank everyone for making this such a brill support thread. It's strange to think that we started this challenge prior to all of the credit crunch, recession fears, mortgage increases in order to protect ourselves from exactly these things!! We must have ESP! :D

Like you DD, I don't think we'll make our target now as circumstances changed at the end of last year as I have previously posted. However, I'm not keen to re-evaluate as things may, hopefully, change back for the better - sooner rather than later would be nice - but I'm determined to stay positive - despite any moaning that I may do from time to time which helps get it off my chest and thereby relieves my tension. Especially when, as you say, the support on this thread has been constant, so let me add my thanks to everyone too!

Here's tae us, wha's like us, damn few and they're aw deid!!!!!

    Hi everyone,

I've just been over to TG's thread. OMG - I LOVE your bathroom. It is goooorgeooouus :)

Now, picking up on Kaz's point about the Tresemme shampoo, which I also use and only buy when it's on special offer, I think we need some sort of quick check. How many MFIT-ers use Tresemme ? And will the manufacturers be desperately upset if they realise their biggest fanbase is a bunch of internet MSE-ers, who also have lovely swishy hair? Do you think we could get appearance fees and be in their next TV advert?

    HI,

OK - we need a Tresemme watch on these boards so we know when Tesco's, or anyone else, does the good deals :)

More seriously - congrats to everyone. I can't wait to see the chart

Everyone is doing so brilliantly!!! I wonder how much our total paid off will be this update?!?

I have withdrawn my offset account balance so I have temporarily gone the other way and now owe £8k more than I did last update :(

However, it is only temporary until OH's house sale completes and after paying back my stooze pot, is paying for a holiday for OH and me!!!

......Mortgage free in 10 days......and counting...!
:D Thanks to MSE, I am mortgage free!:D
