Update per signature, PM on the way to TallGirl.
At 3 o'clock next Saturday I'll be getting married, so lots of other things I should be doing today. Yippee! Eek! (And funds diverted from the mortgage-free quest, but all in a good cause).Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0 -

Hi all
I've taken the advice of some clever person on here (sorry can't remember who) who suggested I forget certain internet things in favour of actually getting my thesis written.
I now have about a weeks worth of corrections before it is ready to print and I'm getting quite excited.
So I just popped in to give my update - we owe £42320.60.
This has hardly changed since last time but we've taken our payments down to minimum and the extra has been saved in our ISAs (at a higher interest rate). We've also saved £2500 for our holiday next year so far which I am well impressed with cos we still have another 4 pay days to look forward to before the balance needs paying.
Also because we're now paying into our ISAs with the express plan of taking that all off the mortgage before the MFi3 finish date is up, should I subtract that from my mortgage balance?
It looks a lot better if I do!0 -
I have PM'ed my update to Tall Girl but thought I would update on here. Since we took on our new (and larger) mortgage in October we have paid off as follows:
At 18/10/07 = £205,000
At 5/7/08 = £199,397
So we have paid off £5,603:T
Would have been more but our income is down now I am on maternity pay and lots of our spare money is being spent on our lovely daughter:o:DMFIT No. 810 -
Cupid S - is it worth suspending your time spent earning from 'clicking' until the thesis is done - spending time making sure you get the thesis completed to a good standard - as you say in your post, getting the 'Dr' in front of your name should bring in more money, so it's a sprat to catch a mackerel situation / speculate to accumulate.
.
That was at the end of May, cupidS, so it's only been a few weeks away from clicking.
I say the money that's for mortgage overpayment counts towards the balance. If you're getting a better ISA rate than putting it into mortgage then it makes even more sense.
Good Luck with the thesis .. will we have to call you Dr. Cupid then....:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19
