Today is the last chance to get included in the Chart as it will be posted tomorrow.

Please PM me we still have 30 out of 87 who have not update yet.

It would be good if we could get all 87 results!!

    Only 30 to go!!!

I know it is a shame about the 30 but you can only nag people so many times. If I get lots of PM's in the next few days I might redo it but I suspect some have dropped out already. 1 1/2 million paid off is nice.

  • Well Done TG.
I agree - pity about the 30. but its still pretty impressive if you look at the number of 'live members'.

Out of interest - is anyone finding this challenge more difficult in the current climate?

I have cut back to the bone on many things and have another £1k in e Bay to transfer into reducing the mortgage...but after that I'm not sure where to get the extra savings from?

I have just been told that I'm getting made redundant after 21 years of continually high achievements with the same company and it has hit me really hard (even the thought of the Redundancy to assist in reducing the Mortgage is not helping much).

I'm thinking about a TOTAL change in my work life but this would mean earning around 50% of my current pay (mind you that will be £0 in September!)

Anyone got any thoughts, anyone had a major downshift once they have paid of their Mortgage?

Maybe you could make a living comping full time, based on your winnings so far :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: . Sorry, couldn't resist it ;) .

Sorry to hear of redundancy - but maybe you were due a change anyway? And TBH the way the economy is going maybe better to get made redundant now then have company go bust in a year and end up walking away with a lot less?

I haven't any experience of downshifting, but others on here have & have done v well. Keren springs to mind but she seems to have disappeared  .

    Good luck x
A positive attitude may not solve all your problems, but it will annoy enough people to make it worth the effort

I have. But I downshifted to a job paying 1/3 of my previous income in the middle of paying off the mortgage (and have still managed to pay off over £100K). I wouldn't have thought this was possible but, because of the downshift, I became much more money conscious. No more lunches out, less spent at the supermarket, fewer withdrawals at the ATM. I originally set a stretching target of paying off £110K, but am now working towards paying off a further £20K. So, I'd say do it!

    Cool chart - thanks TG!!!

Hope some of our cheerleaders will be along shortly as OH is asking things like "who has paid off the most then" and I'm struggling to read the chart let alone work out the stats . . . I've told him someone will be along to do that shortly . . . fingers crossed or tea may be a bit late tonight!!!
