I just told DH that we had paid off nearly 1 million- To which he replied
"Great, what can I spend my half on?"
    Wally.
    Fanatstic achievements though I think.
I am looking forward to Tuesday- payday so I can send my council tax payment over to the mortgage! DH is working hard and plastering the front room right now. I can't wait until it's done!

Just remembered what has been niggling me for a while.
You mentioned Dithering childrens pensions, I started the pensions for my 2 2 years ago and pay £25 each per month. They are doing ok so far and were dead easy to set up online.
The family went nuts when I did it because they thought I should set up a normal savings account so they can [STRIKE]blow it all on beer[/STRIKE] use it when they go to uni!
So, remeber it's not too late to start early but it may slow down your MFW achievements. TTFN, Kaz.

Wow- a group of 75 of us have paid off nearly a million quid in less than a year- the power of the collective to stuff it to the banks-

Martin Lewis and his trusty gang must be the bane of every bank and utility company's CEO considering the numbers of members of this site!

    Hi everyone

Some fantastic reading on the latest chart. I hope to be doing my usual break down for you all this weekend. Been at work this last couple of days hence no posting from me. So bear with me just a little bit longer, got to take DD swimming this morning so hopefully this afternoon I will have time to sit and concentrate while she is at High School Musical on Ice with her Aunt.

For this update I have looked at the figures based on two main groupings.

    There are three groups:

    1. active members, those who have given an update since October 2007 update currently standing at 71

    2. inactive members, those who have not updated since October 2007 currently standing at 19

    3. dormant members, those who have no given an update for the last two charts. These members have had their figures removed from the calculations so that we have a true reflection of what is going on. Currently standing at 42

    So.......

The results for Active members only:

Based on the info DD and TG have in their charts and by my reckoning the total of mortgages plus pension pots other savings of the 71 active participants is £6,988,256.46 with a collective aim to reduce this by £3,062,504.09 during the course of the challenge.

So far the total amount repaid is £839,109.85 or 27.34% of total pledged. To be bang on track at the end of month 9 (ie end of December) we should have repaid 25.00% so collectively we are ahead of target by £73,483.83 :j

The results for Active and Inactive members:

Based on the info DD and TG have in their charts and by my reckoning the total of mortgages plus pension pots other savings of the 90 active and inactive participants is £8,693,683.73 with a collective aim to reduce this by £3,975,967.18 during the course of the challenge.

So far the total amount repaid is £921,009.80 or 23.16% of total pledged. To be bang on track at the end of month 9 (ie end of December) we should have repaid 25.00% so collectively we are behind target by £72,982.00

I am sure if we had had an update from the current 19 inactive members then we would collectively be a long way ahead of target. So if you are one of the 19 please PM Tallgirl with your figures so we can keep track of how everyone is doing. The next update will be April 2008.

I shall report each time in the same style. So anyone who did not report in this time and does not report for the next chart will become dormant and everyone that does report will be classed as active. I hope this all makes sense!

37 people so far are ahead of target so an extra pat on the back to you all and special mention to catowen 116.18%, catshark88 104.11% and keren29 100% of their targets.:j :T

Just for a bit of fun I have also looked at how many of these mortgages we would have paid off now if we started with the smallest active mortgage and worked towards the biggest! Those who would be MF now in this scenario would be: sparklymessygirl, Mushy61, getmeoutofhere, freedomgirl, ailuro2, inkie, cazmanian_minx, jobbing_musician, ~daisy~, Pandora123, Desperate Housewife, Karmacat, amazamum, shazzany, lunasaver, tallgirl, superfast_Gran, minimoocow, ali007, taka and hughmungas1986.

Well done to everyone, keep going 9 months down only 27 to go :D

Looking forward to the next update :)

  • Thanks to everyone for the lovely congratulations posts - I guess I shoudl update my sig, but rest assured I've already started on planning the MSE wedding! Some focus will be on value for money rather than spending as little as possible, and I'm already watching lots of things on ebay.

And great stats info - I've not quite taken it all in yet, but the bottom line is we're doing so well, alreaday looking for ward to the next chart for the 1 year mark. Thanks TG and AnW'sMum!
