Its a shame because my C&G payment has just gone beyond 6 years so don't think I can claim for that one - I am not even sure I was charged by Virgin when I moved away from them - if I was, I suspect it was hidden in the transfer costs so I might just phone them and ask.

I've had £50 from NatWest so far, but I think they owe me another £35, so I'm due to give them another call and see what they've to say for themselves. Every little helps!Mortgage Free thanks to ill-health retirement0

This is my incentive to get mortgage free:money:I don't want to be working to make other people richer.:o

The result was
Payments: £17,937

Offset Interest saved: £4,824
Using my amotirisation index i'm £7,259 ahead of where I would be on a straight repayment mortgageI am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)

Hi all, i'm not paying off each month but adding money to a sealed jar to pay off when full (don't have a lot of cash due to my partners redundancy and my own ill health) partner had a job interview today though so fingers crossed more money soon to pay of the mortgage, not aiming for the three years but aiming to reduce the term even if not pay off in full. Earned an extra £120 this week through doing some tutoring which is great, had to use some for food shopping but am putting £40 in the mortgage jar to boost the filling! Good luck to all, i do keep checking this thread, even though i don't post often and am inspired by the posts, keep it up!0

Ecoelle- can I suggest putting it into a savings aco!!!!, if you have one that links to your current account- it's easy to instantly transfer back if needed, but at least it's earning some interest- which is more than sitting in a sealed jar.;)
good Luck with the interviews:DMember of the first Mortgage Free in 3 challenge, no.19

Balance 1st November '09 = mortgage paid off with £1903 left over. Title deeds are now ours.0 -
It's only coppers so don't think it's worth opening a separate account at the moment, i will consider this for when we are both working though as it's silly to have large amounts just sitting around earning nothing. Thanks ailuro!0

I've been doing battle with Barclays for months trying to find out how to get my mortgage balance without having to call their expensive phone lines or wait for their annual statements. Having been moved to them from Woolwich, what was a simple system has become a joke. Well, the upshot is that I just had a phone call apologising that it's taken some 3/4 months to respond to my complaint, but there's nothing they can do. There is no way I can get my mortgage balance easily without going in branch and queueing for an advisor or ringing up the 0870 lines..... but as a goodwill gesture they'd like to offer me £25.
Guess where that's going? And the sooner I can get away from Barclays, the better!:rolleyes:0 -

You and me both. Fortunately the mortgage I once had with Woolwich had been remortgaged to First Active by the time they booted us over to Barclays. Their current account is a joke though. I'm hoping my final direct debits will be transferred to my Nationwide account by the end of the month and then I can close the Barclays account down. That day can't be soon enough. Can you call the bank from work though? That's what I do when I can't use the internet banking.MFi3 member 105 - MFW date Oct 2023 - 12 years 9 months more0 -

Do you not have on-line access?
I was with the Woolwich.....now Barclay's (awful Bank!)...but I can get my info on-line.
If I could find a better offset I would - but the rates are not as good + you need to add on fees - So (despite my better judgement) I will stick where I am for the moment.I am NOT a Woman! - its Overland Landy (as in A Landrover that travels Overland)
