  • Have you checked which language your computer is using - I just changed mine to US to try and shift & 3 gave me the hash sign. It's system preferences on a Mac, and Control panel on windows - regional time & language etc (I run Parallels on my Mac so I have access to both). This should do it for you - let me know if not,

OK if we are doing SOA's (to try and see how much people are achieving from how little!) here's mine.

    My budget:
Pay day = 22nd. Cash withdrawn:
    Petrol £80
    DH money £80
    Me money £50
    Family leisure £100
Shopping £300 (although I shop online, I buy it and then put the cash back into my bank account to stay on track.)
    Then DD's:
    23rd: Life insurance £9.89
    Kids pensions £50
    Gas and electric £78
    25th: Mortgage £1233.85
    26th: my mobile £30
    1st: Council tax £104.37
    Water rates £25.89
    2nd: tv licence £11.37
    5th: Broadband £15.99
    9th: Window loan £86.15
10th: yearly items savings £140 (covers birthdays, christmas, insurances and car tax)
    Mum loan repayment £10
11th: Phone bill £15 (usually less)

    Monthly Total: £2420.51

    Me incoming: Approx £1600
    DH incoming: Approx £900
CB: £121 (can't remeber and just closed internet banking!)
    TC: £42.10

Any surplus is to go into savings towards unbudgeted spends such as our holiday or work on the house. These aren't budgeted because they are not regular expenditures and we never know how much any work will cost at the outset. (All rooms need redoing down to hacking off old wet plaster etc. But external work needs to be done first before downstairs can be to sort out the damp) We do do all of the work ourselves so it takes forever but gives us the opportunity to save up in between times for the next big expense. We've done our kitchen and bathroom so they're the expensive rooms done!

I had actually posted the same message on a different thread for Immoral_Angel as she was wondering how to budget so have just pulled it across.
If anyone sees anything glaring that needs to be cut down or go completely feel free to point it out- but I won't be ditching the kids pensions! I started them January 2006 when DD was 4 and 2 months and DS was 2 and 1 month. I wonder if they are the youngest pension payers?
    Debt: 16/04/2007:TOTAL DEBT [strike]£92727.75[/strike] £49395.47:eek:   £43332.28 repaid 100.77% of £43000 target.
    MFiT T2: Debt [STRIKE]£52856.59[/STRIKE] £6316.14 £46540.45 repaid 101.17% of £46000 target.
    2013 Target: completely clear my [STRIKE]£6316.14[/STRIKE] £0 mortgage debt. £6316.14 100% repaid.

I've just rearranged for a 5.19% deal fixed for two years. As soon as it's completed, I'm going to start paying that £100 a month extra.

Part two of my plan is as soon as one of my credit cards is paid off, (June, it's interest free till then) I will try to divert some of the money I would have paid towards that to the mortgage :)

Gonna be a big gang soon!

I've been trying to get a moving avatar but whenever I try to save any it just saves them as a picture. Does anyone know how to save it so it stays animated?

Hi Penny, your gif file has to be 80 x 80 pixels or less for it to move. If it's bigger than this then MSE shrink it to fit and it just turns into a picture.

    :j We're over the £1 Million mark!! :j

I've just added up all of our repayments and if we achieve our targets we will have repaid a combined £1,044,113.00** of mortgage debt!!

Can you just imagine how much interest we'll have saved over the terms of our mortgages!!!

 hmnnn, in fact, why speculate... try this link: Mortgage Overpayment Calculator from Channel4 Money program. Have a go and see just how much you're saving.

I've just put my details in and I'll save £85,089.02 in interest! Woo! . Aw, but what about the poor banks and building societies, just how will they get by without our cash? :( Maybe we should stop the challenge? :rotfl:

** This is even excluding pfpf who isn't sure yet what his/her target is, and TrikerandBiker, tigtag02 and amazamum who have mortgage term reductions as their goals (though if you all could work out how much capital it'd take to reduce to those terms, that'd be great).
