That could be the case with some other handsets, plus there is the availability to purchase additional warranty, I like the iphone too but it's not my 1st choice of handset, but it's not me that is purchasing it, I think the OP has found themselves a fair deal.
That wasn't a criticism of the iPhone per-se; it was an observation that the contract is for a longer term than the supplier is prepared to guarantee the product for.

Of course they could purchase an extended warranty, but that would then drive the cost up further.

Even top of the line handsets are relatively cheap nowadays, considering in the past a Nokia 2110 / 2140 would have cost £300 on top of a contract often with no inclusive airtime. And £300 then was worth much more than £300 nowadays.
Well, it's hardly appropriate to consider the price of those early handsets against the current mass-market mainstream products.
  • Have to say I do think Apple are extracting the urine somewhat by only offering a 12 month warranty and asking so much for extended coverage.

    Thanks for all your comments.

BAck to the actual cost of this deal, I see that if I bought the same contract direct with Vodafone, the upfront cost is £100 more, and only £35 Quidco cashback, so the same deal would be £165 more.

So I am thinking buying via Carphone Warehouse looks a good option.

  • I was thinking about doing the same. I'm currently with O2 but my phones broken and I'm out of contract next month. O2 would do nothing and wouldn't match phones4u/carphonewarehouse. In fact considering I've been with them 8 years they were not bothered in the slightest that I was going elsewhere.

So I phoned Vodafone direct and they did match it but obviously minus the £100 cashback. However with going directly with Vodafone I also get 20% discount as I work for the nhs. So the deal I ended up getting was:

    Unlimited calls,
    Unlimited texts
    1gb data
    The phone for £19

For £29.60 a month. I was pretty happy with that.

That sounds very good, £729.40 over the towo years, and no worries about Quidco paying out. Would you mind letting me know what number you rang please to arrange this deal.

I want to replace my iphone 3GS, and hve been pricing up some iphone 5 deals. I like the look of going through Quidco to the Carphone Warehouse, then getting the £33 per month deal with an upfront cost of £49. 24 month contract. With £100 cashback, I think that is £741 over 2 years.

This gets 600 mins, unlimited texts and 500Mb data. I havent used over 300Mb for the last year, so that sounds fine to me.

Whilst accepting iphones arent moneysaving, and that they aren't everyone's cup of tea, please can you give me your thoughts on this deal. Thank you x

I think that is a good deal. I went with a CPW upgrade iphone 4S deal through quidco last week and got unlimited calls, unlimited texts and 1GB data for £31 a month, free phone and £50 cashback. So £694 over 2 years.
So you are paying just £2 a month more for the better phone, with slight tariff differences.

Incidentally my quidco tracked within 24 hours.

Also allow for the 3.2% tariff increase with O2 in February.

If you do go with vodafone you won't get the visual voicemail that O2 gives you - don't know if that bothers you or not.

I currently have a 12 monthe SIM only deal with vodafone in my 3GS, so lost visual voicemail a while ago! I was surprised how much I liked it when I didn't have it any more!

08080 408 408 just ordinary number. The guy originally couldn't do it but someone phoned me back from sales team. You will only get the 20% off though if you work for a company on their discount list.

    Good luck.

One consideration on providers is O2 Moments, which gives you offers and cashback that can add up.

I went into a Vodafone store today, spoke to the manager who was very helopful. He asked me straight away who I work for, then asked me if I know anyone who works in Boots, Sainsburys, NHS etc. All of these people qualify for 20% off monthly charges. Sadly, I don't but hope this helps someone
