Hi all
Im back from town, and my purse a lot lighter than it was before I went, especially after paying the rent & council tax.
I brought some chicken breast, tomato sausage, and always get a free marrow bone for the dog!
Plus some fruit n veg of the market.
Ive just made a HM strawberry & rhubarb crumble.
moiliere where would you like me to start ref the army? I was in for 4yrs, and had the best time. Ive been out 13yrs now and still miss it. But mainly I miss the people. I did my basic military training in Guildford. Then was posted to Aldershot for my trade training (chef) then, I had 2 posts in Woolwich (S.E London), managed a tour of Kenya for 3 months, and missed out 2 6month tours to Canada & Falklands, due to having arthritus on my knees, the doctor wouldn't allow me to go for medical reasons! I travelled to a variety of places in the UK, mainly with friends or just general military exercise's. I can go on all night about it all, but dont think I would bore you too much! Feel free to pm me
Right, best get dinner sorted out
Catch you later

I am on a roll right now, have just got rid of a floor standing fan, knitting needles and patterns, I have an overlocker on e bay and a tapestry frame, and a large plastic crate on free cycle.......I have just 4 boxes to unpack, but I have to get some shelves put up first then perhaps I might be able to get back to some sewing and use up the vast crates of fabric we have moved..........
Just made a mixed salad to have with some of the cold turkey breast for supper.......
I got the wine rack at the side of a wardrobe in the bedroom, just need to fill it when we go to France in a couple of weeks...........
Off to have some supper............Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.0 -
Good evening everyone :hello:
Big (((hugs))) to grannybroon
Another day at work. The children are very "lively" to say the least and trying to get myself heard is quite tricky! They're not very impressed that I'm sitting them in boy/girl/boy/girl, but I'm sure that they'll get over it before too long
Last night's veggie lasagne was a bit of a disaster.......... I'd forgotten to take the lasagne sheets out of the freezer.
Instead, we had roasted veggies with pasta and salad. I managed to freeze two more portions, so at least some good has come out of it.
Tonight's supper is a (yellow sticker) pizza with salad. Not fantastic, but it uses up the rest of the salad and clears a small space in my freezer.
Still got a stack of ironing to do, which doesn't seem to be going away by itself.
Bye for now

Hi again to everyone
Thank you once again for your goodwishes today - I can't tell you what it has meant to me that so many of you have mentioned me or sent pms - very, very much appreciated. I have, of course, accepted the inevitable but I can't let myself be down for too long - it is just not healthy to do that. Obviously I will have my moments but the main thing is to be strong when I meet those I love so much who are facing this mountain. I remember when Dad was dying that I could put a brave face on and then DH would have to pick up the pieces when I got home and let go. Wish we had this site in 1981! As said before DH is being wonderful. He just knows when I need a cuddle.
Can't remember if I mentioned that I have been worried about him too and his chest infection. X-ray result has come back and has shown a deep infection but nothing sinister. He is currently on third round of antibiotics and has to go for another X-ray when we get back from Spain mid-May just as a precaution. However, he says he is definitely feeling better today which is a positive sign. Came home from work to find grass cut, tea prepared and a G&T being poured.
Crazychick - mentioned you earlier when I checked in from work - your in-box seems to be full so couldn't send a pm.
Don't know what filters work have put on the server but I can't check who has thanked me and I can't press the thanks button so please take a huge blanket thanks!!!!
Will try to check in with you all again later.
Love and hugs

Hi Crazychick
Years ago (about 11) when I took the kids to the Algarve (DH away somewhere) I met two lovely ladies with very young children in buggies who were in the army. No, not the children the lovely ladies!!!! Was it you???? I was so impressed with their commitment and determination.
I think my sense of humour is returning!

:rotfl: no - it wasn't me! I didnt have my children until I left! I was enjoying myself to much to even consider having children back then! Allthough my hat went of to those who was mum's in the forces! Suppose its like any other job really, balancing work & family life. But the thing is with the Army - that has to come 1st before home life!Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. Hi again CC
Just pm'd you. I think service people should have the choice about when they have their families but the recent events with Faye Turney do make you wonder. I don't think I could have gone away to such a sensitive area leaving a child. I was bad enough leaving mine for 3 hours for a quick night out!! However it is different times now than when I had DS in 1978. Not many Mum's went back to work then!
We have a news story up here with a young doctor who works up to 80 hours a week in a big hospital giving anaesthetic, (just called back up to the Gulf), 3 young children who has gone AWOL from his hospital for a week and is hillwalking somewhere. How can they be alert with such long hours. Just glad he wasn't in charge of me when I had my big operation. He obviously has huge issues which is awful for his family.
Twink - hope I haven't pushed buttons here!
Love

sorry grannybroon, not sure what you mean but dont feel any buttons being pushed
