Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Tuesday 24th April 2007. This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything OS and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an OS natter. The more the merrier!

When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem, we’re a laid back bunch here so you won’t hear any complaints. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning

Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “hi everyone, hope everyone’s well” type start does just as well.

Another one here who has had no sleep  Been up since stupid'o'clock - only had about 2 hours sleep and feel really rough.

Have to report that the second bed is made!!! OK, was aiming to get them both done for Saturday so it took a few days extra, but now they are done! Yay!

Plans for today are: Get Flylady to-do list done, spend hour or two up the allotment and take the kids swimming this afternoon. Dinner tonight is baked potato, baked beans and salad.

Nothing else much to say at the moment as too tired to think!!

Have a good day everyone, and as usual, hugs to those who need/want them.

Good morning to you all. I could sleep but hd to be up bright and early this morning as I am training people today.

Dentist yesterday, need three fillings, just got the appointment in before they go totally private which means no NHS dentists in Redcar now. Great have to pay for me and two kids.

Plans for today, neck this cup of coffee, be ready for quarter to 8 to be picked up, come home and collapse.

Hope you all have a wonderful day.

love and hugs to all those that need one.

Morning Aimee, LMS, Catowen oldMcDonald, Mel and Mrs Mix (you will be ahead of me when the threads are merged icon7.gif)

(((((GrannyBroon)))) I don't know what to say other than my thought are with you and yours.

Where is everybody this morning  Must be the drizzle keeping folks in bed.

Late last night a swan turned up outside and started eating the breakfast I'd put in one of the iris boxes for the coot babes. Next thing I knew LCC was hurtling across the water as fast as her little matchstick legs would take her, trying to attack the swan and protect her breakfast!

Well, LCC is about the size of the swan's beak, I was sure this was curtains for LCC, even if the swan just bats her away she'll have had it. But LCC's attack was so unexpected that the swan backed off! Talk about David and Goliath!

Breakfast saved! Mum and Dad literally hauled LCC back into the nest once it was safe enough for them to approach, and she was given a really good scolding. I threw bread into another part of the canal for the swan and we agreed we'd say no more about it. :rotfl:

Right, might just have time to do a bit of flying before work if I get a move on. And I need to find something for lunch. the bread for the sandwich I'd planned was eaten by a swan :o

Pasta this evening, one of the disaster batch, a freezer experiment that didn't work. Ah well.

    Have a lovely day icon7.gif
My first reply was witty and intellectual but I lost it so you got this one instead :D

    Morning All before and after

((((hugs)))) to anyone feeling rough and special (((hug))) gb

Had a good night, slept solid from 11 pm to 5.17. that's fine as the alarm goes off at 5.45 anyway.:T

Off to the vascular surgeon today, so hopefully will either get told to ignore the pain and get on with life, or there is a quick fix (probably will be neither). Not a good patient, and want to be fully fit by end of June to enjoy retirement. :j :j :j

Just heard it now costs £11k a year to run a home, maybe we should have a MS version!

BTW to whoever it was with no £ it's your country set up you have it set to US rather than UK, PM if you need help with it.

Right off to beautify myself for my appointment, (well I will try but miracles aren't accomplished that easily.

Take care all, and congratulations to anyone with birthdays/anniversaries.

Why is it I have less time now I am retired then when I worked?
  • Good morning

(((((hugs))))) Grannybroon - I've lost most of my family to the dreaded "C" - will be thinking of you

Racy - I love reading about your coots - it always brings a smile to my face

((((hugs)))) to all with sleeping difficulties

DH has a hospital appointment this afternoon to find out why he can't straighten his right hand  He's terrified they're going to chop his hand off :rotfl:

I'm at work, with leftover macaroni cheese for lunch. DD's packed lunch is all made - so just got to get bathed and dressed and leave the house!

Tea tonight is spanish chicken and rice.

    (((((hugs))))) to everyone
Squares knitted for my throw ~ 90 (yes!!! I have finally finished it :rotfl: )
Squares made for my patchwork quilt ~ 80 (only the "actual" quilting to do now :rotfl:)

    Morning all

Another wet day, so will have to find things to do indoors today - the only problem is I have now really got the gardening bug and want to be outside :D

Put my chicken carcas in the slow cooker yesterday with some veg, and by the end of the day, I had something that looks and smells like the fantastic soup my Mum used to make. After reading the thread about free yeast, I went into Asda on Friday and asked for some at the bakery and was given a block about 2 x 3", so will make some Hm bread today to go with the soup.

Heard Chris Evans on the radio last night talking about freezer weeks where you don't buy anything, but eat things out of the freezer - do you think he has been having a look on OS ;)

Have a good day everyone, and hugs to anyone needing one x
You're only young once, but you can be immature forever :D
  • Morning all! Drizzly and grey here today. Luckily I did all the washing yesterday so now all I have to do is the ironing - again:mad:

Racy, I love your stories of the baby coots, went walking with friends yesterday morning and found two babies with their mothers on the local pond, they're so fluffy and cute at that age. Didn't see any ducklings though, I think the ducks have left home in a huff as the local park wardens have stopped people feeding them.

Had to go to a funeral yesterday afternoon - work colleague, very sad, so didn't get much OS done. Going to spend this morning cleaning and then have a chicken tikka masala to make for dinner. I've also got the weekly meal plan to do and as I have a small number of potatoes left, am going to make potato salad for lunch.

    Have a good day everyone
