Just had my 1st attempt at this and all the lady said was 12 months 1/2 price line rental and broadband getting me a monthly cost of £52.75 for broadband, line rental and unlimited calls, entertainment extra and HD channels (for sky F1).
In my eyes not soo good as I need to get my new package around the £40 mark (with BT at the moment but having trouble with vision box and don't want ti oay them £100 if not the box)!
I will try again in a few days time with another angle but do Sky ring you back?
Thanks**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
See my post above.
You should point out you are likely to sign up via a friends and family offer. These give vouchers of at least £150. BB is also free via online for 6 months worth £45. Therefore you are looking for Sky to beat £195 worth of savings you can already get over a year.
On your 1st offer as Broadband Unlimited is already free for 6 months then at half price for a year there is no saving. They have offered you about £84 saving on line rental.
Push for half price TV £13.25 and half price HD £5.12. That totals £220.56 over a year.
Then make sure you dont lose your Free 6 months BB. (They may as they did for me convert this to 12 months Halfprice. Another £45.0 -

Thanks, was going to go that way tonight when I phone. The lady I got last night wasn't particularly polite either so really wasn't helpful so hoping tonight to get someone who wants to give me more than 1 word answer.
Thanks again.**BERTIE**Did you Know: It costs more than £325,000 a day to run the lifeboat service? (with no government funding) Please donate to the RNLI0 -
Spoke with someone earlier today and got nothing different to what is on the website. :-(
Was hoping to switch from Virgin to Sky but the price for Sky is alot more than Virgin.0 -
Its all about patience and tact. You HAVE to know what to go in with to haggle.
ALWAYS retry and dont commit if youre not happy.
I would also suggest not using the same name or mobile number. This is because some advisors will ask for these details and create a prospect account. Im not sure whether these prospect accounts are deleted or not so if some wise a$$ advisor decides to run the mobile number in the system, it MAY come out with the details from before and what you were offered. The way companies work is they will not give you an offer thats cheaper than what youve discussed.
Just use same name but some crappy mobile numbers and if you DO decide to take a deal, just say something like you want to change the mobile number to your contract number instead as thats more reliable blah blah.
Like i said, it takes patience and pot luck. You will get some !!!! advisors both male and female who wont give you squat and make out that the deal youre already getting is awesome etc etc.
Where as other advisors (Mostly asian male advisors) are actually more than happy to give you a good deal if it means signing you up because at the end of the day its commision based sales so they see it as a win for you and a win for them.
The company gives them the power to cut deals to make sales and they do that for OUR benefit so kudos to them for doing this.
I've been at it for a month and still dont know ALL the deals that they have going but I can tell you that the best deal is in my first post with all rounder.
I may accept this as ive been without tinternet for 2 and a half months!!! Going to take the plunge on Sunday.
Sky will only call you back if the advisor is feeling generous. All deals are subject to change if you dont accept there and then but if its a good guy then they will take your number to call you back.

Could you explain that deal you posted a couple of posts above this im struggling a little to understand the costs lol would help out loads xx
Anyone else -
If you outline exactly wht it is you want, ill try and fill you in on what i know about deals and possibly how to go about it on the phones with Sky.
Key points are to not be afraid to decline, not be afraid on the phones and dont ooh and aah too much. Dont be afraid of the silence!0 -
Call centres Ive found helpful are -
Newcastle during afternoon.
Leeds on an afternoon friday and evening starting Friday and ending Monday.
Chances are you'll go through to newcastle during afternoons anyway and Leeds during afternoons fridays and evenings most days although the helpful staff are on as stated above.
Just remember to ask as soon as you get patched through.
Dont be making up silly reasons if you get asked why, like " oh i dont want to go india centres" because some advisors might take offence.
Just say you got to the wrong number and the lady patched you through and said im going to Scotland or something are you based in Scotland?
No were in XXXX place.
If they start getting a bit iffy then you know youve come to a tramp of an advisor and just hang up.0 -
+++Sky Deals For New Customers+++
Alot of talk for existing customers you lucky gets! Heres a little something for new customers. Through my various discussions with the people at Sky.
They can only apply one discount per item. So for example, they can discount you tv for 12 months, or they can discount your line rental for 12 months. It wont alow them to do both though.
So you can ring up and they can give you the entire sky world package with HD, 3D for £32.50 per month. (then you add the cost of your line rental and BB)
Or you can get the line rental half priced, however, this can only happen if you take HD package out with them.
You can also get the tv with entertainment extra for 12 months discounted and they may even apply a credit varying between £20-£40 depending on the agent you talk to.
There are no deals on just the phone and BB.
The sky fibre broadband has 3 months half price offer anyway on the website so if you consider taking this out with the sky tv package make sure you mention that they apply the 3 months half price or else they wont do it.
But if you are new, make sure you get one or the other discounted!!!!!
If they say no, just hang up and try again!
For the love of all people do NOT go about saying you read this on MSE or whatnot cos that is just stupid and that is what kills the deals.
+++Sky Online Chat+++
They can only offer 6 months discounted on whatever. The people on the phones can offer you alot more. THis should be basic knowledge anyway and apply's to all companies.
Hi newbie here , was thinking of switching from virgin to sky, a guy came to the door today and offered the following
Sky entertainment , sport all hd , broadband unlimited and phone for £68 how does that sound ??0 -
Dont forget to thank my post!
Can you check the sky site and tell me what phone line he offered and what the price is on the website and also what BB he offered and the price of that.
Then tell me if youre content with that phoneline and BB and we'll discuss the entire package further.0 -
Hello. Is this deal still active? Also what number do you use to get through to Newcastle or Leeds. I would 100% take this deal out as you have described if I can get hold of it.0
-
if id have thought that dumdum would i have made the questionable statement?
its probs some thoughts all mixed into a curry after all the talks ive had with sky.
if it is possible to have just the tv then thats great! still doesnt do much on the deals side of things though unfortunately
You do not have to take a Sky phone service to have TV. You simply have to have an active line connected to the digibox for the 1st 12 months. The provider can be anyone. And even this requirement can be bought out at sign-up tstage for a one off payment of about £25.
The only exception is for Multiroom, which requires that all boxes are permanently connected. No free lunch, and no free laptop0
