Why would those in work need help? Help for the strivers and those who make an effort and not those who can't be bothered as life on benefits is easy0

Can't be bothered? LOLJohnnytwostep wrote: »Help for the strivers and those who make an effort and not those who can't be bothered as life on benefits is easy
How is being on JSA easy? Losing £500 a week to be on £65 now £71 a week is not easy at all.
I have racked up debts of over £6k trying to live.
Was I not bothered when I was at work for the last 28 years?
How would people in work need help? Like I say when I had a job I never needed help at all, maybe you are on NMW and feel hard done by!We’ve had to remove your signature. 71 a week plus all the other benefits the workshy get. tens of thousand pounds a year for sitting on their a**** watching daytime tv,...raking it in!!!
I'm not on NMW but do feel hard done by that my taxes are paying for those to sleep till lunch, maybe go to the bookies, the pub, then sit down to daytime tv. All paid for by me and the other workers.
I dont get benefits apart from i think it is about £20/week, but even that is going next year, to pay for the workshy no doubt.0 -
You are not describing me as I ONLY get £71 and NOTHING ELSE!!!!Johnnytwostep wrote: »71 a week plus all the other benefits the workshy get. tens of thousand pounds a year for sitting on their a**** watching daytime tv,...raking it in!!!

I do not sleep till lunch, as I am up at 7am and I do not watch daytime tv, or go the pub or bookies at all.
You admit you get £20 a week benefit? What that's for? who is paying for that then? May I remind you I and many others have numerous years of tax and ni contribution behind us maybe you should look at the ones that have NEVER WORKED and never paid NI OR TAX before you have a go and what you generalise to be ALL the unemployed! We’ve had to remove your signature. child benefit, which is being taken away next year.
I do look at those who have never worked, and those who do not want to work.0 -
I think you will find they are one of the same. I want to work.Johnnytwostep wrote: »child benefit, which is being taken away next year.

See you didn't repsond to me saying I only get £71 a week - I guess you are ignorant and think we all get millions a year to live on!
Child benefit taken away? Really?
To be fair if you rely on the Gov to pay for you to have kids you are a hypocrite!
I am out of this one as I have to work out how I am going to spend my millions! LOLWe’ve had to remove your signature. Please check the Forum Rules if you’re unsure why it’s been removed and, if still unsure, email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
You scroungers are on easy street. You'll soon be on income based JSA, and all the other benefits that go with it.
Yes the £20/week that the government give me pays for my child. That's all they cost you know. Oh no wait, doesn't even pay for half a day at nursery.
All along i have said that working people should get benefits and the scrounger-layabout-jobless should not.
Enjoy your millions, and your lie in tomorrow while the rest of us get up early to go to work.0 -
This Morning posted about this proposal on their Facebook page. Got a good debate going and with a few exceptions it was pretty civilised. Some one from australia posted to say that they have cashless system over there for benefits and the items she listed as being allowed to be bought were food and a couple of other things. there were a few things which I consider to be essential which weren't on her list so I asked about them and got the reply that they could be bought with the welfare card.
Then someone in America posted and i was shocked at some of the essential items which cannot be got with vouchers over there. Toiletry items, cleaning items, clothes and things children need for school including pens/pencils. The poster on Facebook didn't mention school things but I know for fact, that pens/pencils for school aren't on the allowed list.
Here's the list of items which can be bought with the vouchers in Australia & USA:
Australia: Food, clothes, paying household bills, toys/games/books for children, school uniform, school supplies eg pens/pencils all allowed.
America: Food only and restrictions on what can be bought, no sweets or chocolate including chocolate spread. I'm not 100% sure on clothes. Not allowed toiletry items, household cleaning items, paying household bills, toys/games/books for children, things for school including pens/pencils.
UK: Proposal is for alcoholics, drug addicts and 'problem' families who aren't spending their money appropriately to have a large proportion of their benefits paid using cashless system. In my opinion I think it should be 70-75% on the welfare card but allow bills to be paid out of it - electric, gas, phone (land 7 mobile due to new rules that if JCP ring you and you don't answer, you're at risk of getting sanctioned for not being available for work). Saw a post on this board a few weeks back where someone had been told this. If the cashless system was brought in, there would have to be a way of doing it to allow people to buy goods online (especially people who live in rural areas or for buying things off ebay or Amazon). I also think there should be 2 cards issued to families with children, one has the 'money' for food, household bills and clothes for adults put on it. The second card would have the money for the children put on it for clothes toys/games/books, school things including school trips or possibly parents taking them to places at weekend/school holidays. I know this might annoy some people but I think that if a cashless system is brought in, say 5% of the benefit be allowed for non essentials such as fags/booze, entertainment. Due to the number of people on benefits who have 'doorstep' loans such as provident, a system which allows 20-25% benefit to be cash might be more practical. I realise that me proposal might be problematic administratively (2 cards and money into bank a/c) but it would work for me. The way I'm sorting mine and DH's finances from January is that CTC pays day to day things such as food, tv licence, toiletries & cleaning items. DH's wages (part time) & JSA pays monthly bills - electric, gas, phone, internet, water, rent, debts. Child benefit gets saved for girls clothes, birthday & Christmas presents, days out (mostly borrow mum's car and go to the coast or Thetford forest, summer maybe places that cost such as zoo or funfair). A cashles system that allows 20-25% benefit to be paid in cash would allow parents to take children on days out.
I have a nasty feeling that a cashless or mostly cashless system wouldn't be brought in as it'd be blocked by European Human Rights laws. I'm in favour of it for the groups mentioned. I also feel that i should make it clear that my husband & I put the girls needs first. We've decided our Christmas present to each other is going to be a printer but it won't be here in time for Christmas as we're getting it after due to getting the girl's things, food and making sure that bills are covered.0 -
