Car Warranty help!
Options
I have a Vauxhall Corsa, and it is at 40,000 miles. It is a 54 plate, so will be 3 years old by September. I have been told I need a service (which is a 2 year service for 40,000) but should I be forking out £186 for a service which will last me 4 months? And what happens when it gets to September? I have also been told that I don't have to go to a Vauxhall dealer for the service, and it is much cheaper - is this the case? If anyone can help me with this I'd be very grateful!!!
Thanks!
Thanks!

Why will the service only "last 4 months" ? Surely if you need it servicing it will "last" till the next service! If you mean the warranty will be up, that has no relevance as you have put the mileage on.
See THIS thread for some info re the servicing.Don`t steal - the Government doesn`t like the competition0 -
yes you should get it serviced and while in warrenty should get it done by dealer, though expensive if they find any item needing warrenty work they are usually quite happy to do it and bill car manufacturer plus you dont know what recalls may be in place for your car. there were quite a few for my last car and i only knew about them when i took them into be serviced, after the warrenty has run out i would then switch to a cheaper garage"Save the cheerleader - Save the world"0

Definately take it to a main dealer for this service - I think there was an item on last week's Watchdog about Vauxhall Corsas, recalls, and the fact that there can be problems with them. Might be worth asking when you drop it off for the service if yours is one of the models affected by this.
Once it's out of warranty though - a trusted local mechanic is the way to go!:j Almost 2 stones gone! :j

As far as servicing is concerned i prefer a dealer stamp in my book while under warranty but it can be done by any approved garage, providing it is done to the manufacturers standards and using approved parts. Many people are not aware of this,i even had to correct the trading standards person on local radio, who was not aware that this is now the case, she checked and found it was. There are two sides to every story.
