Have you tried the default code (12345)? Maybe the guy can't remember the code he used because he never changed it

I think the phone could possibly lock after 10 tries of the security code... not 100% sure though.

Sometimes the code is 1234, try that, if not then it will have to be sent to be repaired.

If it was the PIN then that would be easy, you would only need a PUK (Personal unlocking key) code, but with the security code its more of a pain when it's forgotten.

You'd think if they can get a code to override the pin then they can do the same with the security code, but i guess not.

Local Nokia repair centre is your best bet.

    Once it's locked, it's locked.

It can't be unlocked without getting it repaired

Here is a number for a Nokia Repair centre 01223 244 288 , they can either pass you onto your local centre or tell you if it can be done without the need for repair.

    No harm in asking.

If you have any 3rd party mobile shops near you they should have Nokia clips which can reset the codes on your phone and it wouldn't cost that much to get it reset to 0000/1234 and so on. However, if nokia give you the option on having the handset sorted out by themselves for next to nothing then that would be your best bet.

If all else fails, ask the seller for a full refund or ask them to foot the bill for getting it reset/repaired. It wasn't advertised as having the security code on it, or was it???

i can reset it for you if you cant get it done locally, but if you got it from ebay there is a chance the seller doesnt know it because its stolen, so even after reseting the phone may be barred.
a nokia repair center would prob charge £10 + vat to reset it
