If you're considering Vegas take a look at
http://lasvegasweddingwagon.com/
You can choose where you want to get married and they come to you - we got married at the Welcome to Las Vegas sign in October and it was just what we wanted0 -

Would consider Scotland, anywhere that is cheap and nice
Any good locations? nearlyrich, will have a look at the states too... we are going to las vagas in Jan, may just visit the little chapel
Don't think our mothers would be too happy though
FatVonD, that made me laugh! Been looking at Olu Deniz, some places do wedding packages, anyone know if the are any good or know of any good ones? I like the sound of the ones where the alcohol is in included, as our families can drink for Britain
And yeah, my eyes nearly popped out of my head when I read 5k for the wedding photographer....crazy price x
After going on al all inclusive holiday to Manavgat, Turkey I can honestly say the alcohol was disgusting! The wine was like vinegar and the spirits very weak.
I got married in a little log wedding chapel in Gatlinburg, Tennessee and it had snowed and it was very romantic. My anniversary is on Tuesday.
How about Cyprus? They cater towards the English and is a beautiful island.0 -
10K is considered an 'only' budget? Yikes.
If you are going to invite people and genuinely want them to be there, you can't really ask them to spend money and annual leave going abroad for you.
If the main reason for the decision is money then you can have a nice wedding for a lot less than 10K in this country if you accept it won't be like something from Hello magazine!
Definitely get on the wedding board for tips of how to keep the costs down.0 -
I got married in Australia, on horseback, on the beach, followed by a sunset champagne cruise around the bay (courtesy of the manager of the hostel we were staying at). Yes I did say hostel - we included a tour along the east coast of Oz, a trip to New Zealand, and a final 2 weeks in Fiji! All in all about 6 weeks holiday visiting some amazing places, and with an amazing service, for about £4000 all in for the two of us!
Oh, and pics were taken on my own digital camera, by the witness who was one of the grooms at the trecking centre we got the horses from!

We got married in Vegas in July, at the Little White Wedding Chapel. The wedding itself cost us $400 including limo, bouquet, photos, pastor etc. not very traditional but it was good fun and we didn't want a big fuss. Had our wedding breakfast at Cheesecake Factory :-)0

Another vote for Vegas, had 2 weeks on the strip, got married by Elvis in the Alladin Hotel, went to a few shows, ate at top restaurants and gambled some cash away and still had change out of £7kBe Alert..........Britain needs lerts.0

LFT,
My mum was very upset that we married abroad but OH and I both have messy, extended families. I did feel bad about that aspect, but I'm one of 6, and all the other 5 had big white traditionals. We had a party when we got home for family and friends. As for Vegas, its our dream to go back.....2 little ones are hampering that at the moment:D0 -
The thing with getting married abroad is that it is inevitable that not everyone you invite will be able to go due to cost, already made holiday plans or simply don't fancy the destination you've chosen (Of course some people choose to marry abroad to ENSURE certain people can't/won't attend but that's another story
) People will say enthusiatically -Oh yes we'd love to go to XYZ destination for your wedding -but when it comes to booking suddenly the excuses start.
A budget of £10K is very do-able for a UK wedding if you stop thinking plush hotel that does everything for you and charges accordingly and there are some fantastic and unique venues available.
If you want a "everybody there sharing our day" type wedding a wedding abroad might not give you what you want....... if you're not that bothered and want a "different" wedding then abroad might do it.I Would Rather Climb A Mountain Than Crawl Into A Hole
MSE Florida wedding .....no problem0
