What's the make/model of the PC?
Restart your computer and as soon as it boots up again continuously tap the F8 key.
When you reach the advanced boot options, choose safe mode with networking.
Do the crashes continue?0 -
it's a compaq presario (old refurb one)
i have never managed to get it to go into safemode - i either do it wrong or too slowly
i'll try it tomorrow when i turn it on - it's time to turn it off for the night me thinks

good morning
i tried to start up in safe mode with networking (3 times) and it wouldn't boot up - instead went straight to blue screen
tried to start in just safe mode - and it just had rows of text on screen - grey/black screen - not the blue one - it didn't bootup - so i had to restart using the normal windows optionsaving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk

Last time I had a problem with the computer randomly crashing with different faults it turned out to be a faulty power supply. I changed the power supply and went from ( sometimes ) 3 or 4 crashes a day  to 2 crashes in the last 6 months.
P.s. I was using Nirsoft's Blue Screen View to keep a check on what was causing the crashes , it shows a log of all your crashes so you can compare the info in them to try and find a common factor.0 -
If you're able, test the RAM.

i tried to follow the instructions from the link - but nothing happens when i press the f10 key - it just starts up (although it did make a clicking noise)
i don't have speakers on the pc so can't listen toany instructions
i think i'll just have to start saving for a better one :mad:saving money by growing my own - much of which gets drunk
