Connect a Laptop to a TV

Hello all!

I'm really hoping someone will be able to help me. (Hopefully by Tuesday morning!)

My works laptop is an HP 2710P tablet type laptop, and i really need to connect it to the tv also at work, which is a Samsung UE40D5560.
I basically need to show a video which is saved on the laptop, to a lot of staff, so i would rather it be on the larger screen then the tiny laptop.

I've been looking and i can't make head nor tail of what cables ect will actually work! I know an HDMI cable will work on the tv, but the laptop doesn't have a port for it!

Please help!

Thank you!

If the laptop has a DVI output you can connect to the TV HDMI with that, otherwise maybe they both have VGA.
Can't find any details of your laptop.
That gum you like is coming back in style.

The laptop will almost certainly have a VGA output. Newer models may have DVI and/or HDMI instead or as well.
I believe all Samsung TVs have a VGA in as standard, but you say you know it has HDMI.
You can get VGA to HDMI (or DVI to HDMI) adapters to plug in at the laptop end, which will then alow you to use a standard HDMI cable.

I cannot find your Samsung TV either, but I did find your laptop. It has a VGA output, so all you need to do is find the input on your TV. Does the TV have a manual or Guide book?

Please check the model number of your TV then Google "Samsung UK" as I did, and type the model number into the Search Box at top right. That will give you the TV connector sockets/inputs.

Does your laptop have a manual or Guide? Look in it for the sockets and connectors. You are looking for "VGA Output". If you have no manual, Google HP UK and look for it in the same way that you looked at the TV.
I think this job really needs

You need a VGA to VGA connector for video and a stereo 3.5mm plug to stereo 3.5mm plug for audio.
Though if you need urgently, perhaps look at Maplins or PC World. Take the pics with you.

Ah it appears to be a 40" LED tv, so the chances of VGA are very slim. Maybe DVI-D so DVI to vga adapter or cable.

But if it is just a single video you are wanting to show, not presentation then may be better off just putting the video onto a usb pen drive and show it that way

Another option would be streaming using Samsung's AllShare software if the router is nearby. But I'm sure that you don't wish to be experimenting with new technology at such short notice.

    Wrong as in???

The TV will have a D-Sub Connector. So the chances of VGA are super chunky. :)
