In terms of small d/ds and the charity issue. If you can't get/don't want to use savings..... I found Student Finance England allow you to have direct debits setup - so for any ex-students it might be worth a small amount per month, then you're technically paying your loan back too.

In reality most won't pay it off etc, but a token amount per month may be beneficial. I'm still a current student so don't want to risk winding them up with a small d/d - they're hard enough to deal with as it is!

I need to set up 4 DDs from 4 HRCAs. I already set up one set of DDs with Tesco. Ive just opened up a Santander eSaver and sent off a DD request for one of the HRCA accounts (5days ago). My questions are:
1, How long should I give it before it shows up on the Halifax account?
2, Do I send the next 3 requests off at once or stagger them once each DD is 'visible' on the account?
    Thanks

I did all of mine at once. Shouldn't make any difference if you stagger them.

Once processed they should be on the Halifax account in 2 or 3 days.

I opened a Santander eSaver as one of my homes for those lovely free fivers, just seemed churlish not to.

But how do you register for online banking? When I tried it asked for a card number!

Ah yes, thank you Innovate. That makes sense. Well Santander sense anyway.

Use the telephone to register for online banking.

Well after all they did send me my telephone banking details after I'd opened my account online.
  • Well that's my tesco account setup and three direct debits linked to my BOS accounts.

Just in case anyone hasn't bothered yet - this is definitely the way to go. Opening a Tesco saver account and setting up the direct debits took me ~15 minutes total. It's a fairly nice electronic banking experience. No paperwork or anything!

My other three direct debits are coming from my Santander account... they have the best ISA rates last year/this coming year so I imagine most people here will have an account with them anyway!

This has let me keep my charity direct debits at the amounts I like on the account I like.

Can someone confirm, one Tesco saver supports multiple (7 preferably) DDs?

I applied and was approved for a Tesco account but didn't write down the ac no and sort code and then when I clicked next to set up internet banking they disappeared and I haven't been emailed the details either. How do I get this info back?!
    I think....

My Tesco Internet Saver has 7 (could even be 8!) DDs set up on it.
