Bit of a pain in the behind for anyone who doesn't have direct debits like my other half. I suppose i could transer the tv licence and water payments to that account and transfer the money over in plenty of time.

I am a bit concerned at the mention of salary and it must be utility companies but i guess as there is NO mention of this in the letter you would have grounds for a complaint.

Have you read the rest of the thread? Plenty of ideas there.

Where have you got salary and utility companies from? The Notice of Variation from Halifax is explicit as to what is and is not permitted.

The example from Halifax states "such as your salary", but its only an example, not a requirement.

I think the letter seems stricter than their online blurb.
Fortunately you sign and agree to T&Cs, not "letters". ;)
  • Two charity £1 set up for each of my 3 accounts (2 HFX, 1 BOS).

3 x £3 = £9 per month (was £15 per month) is better than nothing.

Each charity gets £3 per month from my 3 accounts - Oxfam and RSPCA.

So £108 pa for me, £36 to RSPCA and £36 to Oxfam.

If you qualify, 'Gift Aid' would see them get £45 each. :)

I'm all set up. I have my main credit card, HL and another DD from my main account.

2nd account: Tesco and I've moved a 2nd credit card DD over for the time being. This will require me to use 2nd credit card once a month and ensure I have funds in the account to cover the bill. Later I'll alter this to a more straight forward DD. Debating another charity or the nationwide saver.

3rd account: Tesco again and £3 a month to the RSPB with gift aid. Get a free feeder & seed, bird box or book too!

Thanks to OP & everyone who gave advice on this one, i dont seem to remember getting any correspondence from Halifax about the changes.

Only received my correspondence from Halifax yesterday with a generic date of January 2013, i.e. no specific date.
