Anyone got a Steam Mop?
Comments
-
Got the X5. It's very good. Plenty of steam, light to handle.
It did break after a year, but I sent it in and they repaired it for no charge.
I'm surprised at people saying that a steam mop only pushes dirt around or doesn't get rid of ingrained dirt - we use ours with a microfibre scrubbing cloth that fits on the bottom and it lifts off everything from tile.0 -
Pepzofio, thank you for the information. I really appreciate it.
I am puzzled though about the H20 - why did they award it a "Best Buy" label when it got zero stars for ease of use?0 -
I do! (Well, my parents do, and I know the login details

I can definitely see the difference and the floors seem to be much cleaner and stay cleaner a bit longer. You do need to vacuum first. The only downside that I have found (and other people don't seem to have), is that the floors seem to get very wet. We have to go round with a towel to dry them so I don't know why that is. It is easier to use than a normal mop and bucket but whether the price is justified I'm not sure.
Sounds like you have the same as me, a vax S2ST? I love mine, l have quite a few laminate and tiled floors and its so quick compared to normal mopping.
It does make the floor quite wet though and l have often gone over with an old dry towel to help speed up drying.
The pads go in the washing machine with other cleaning cloths or l rinse them out well.
Wouldnt be without my floor steamer now, ive even cleaned carpets with it, a quick squirt or vanish power foam and a go over with the steam mop works a treat.

I bought one of the Shark ones from Asda (£69.99) when one of the dogs had a very upset stomach and I was cleaning the floor every hour or so - and the smell of bleach was really in my nose!
I've found it excellent - I can clean all the floors in my bungalow in less than an hour - wood and laminates - I'm not buying any cleaning liquids (very MSE points) - and the floors are clean.
The fact that the cleaning pads are double-sided (this is the cleaner with the "flip head" - means that one pad cleans one room.
I also took this into work - I work in a Spar Food to Go kitchen and the last job of the day is to wash the floor as one leaves - and used it on the floor there - it did a brilliant job. Now I just have to convince FTG management to issue their kitchens with steamers instead of mops & buckets!0 -
I have the original Polti vaparetto and love it. I have used it for 12 years. It gets the laminate bone dry in minutes and cleans everything in the kitchen and bathroom. The only downpoint is the time it takes to heat up and the price. I tried a cheaper lightweight model from Polti last year and felt it had no power to the steam in comparison but the person I sold it to loves it.Self Employed, Running my Dream Jobs0

Persuaded my Nan she needed the H20
I do her cleaning for her and I love it. I've also used a JML Shark mop for another lady I clean for and that hardly gives off any steam compared to the H20. The H20 is also really good for cleaning ovens, you get a wire brush nozzle with it and it gets lots of ground in food off easily without scratching. It is quite heavy though when you use it as a hand held steamer. We bought spare mop pads for it from Ebay, 6 for just under a tennerThe one you get with it just isn't enough.
Apparently (according to my Nan's friend) the Which review for it only reviewed it as a hand held steamer and not a mop?? Not sure why.
Hope this helps.0 -
Which make and model is it?

Some of the reviews for that are scary! They talk of it exploding, and steam escaping, and quite a few people have had bad burns from it!
Seems that every steam mop has both very good and very bad reviews. Perhaps they are highly likely to leak steam/burn in general? DFW Nerd Club member 023...DFD 9.2.2007 :heartpuls married 21 6 08 :A Angel babies' birth dates 3.10.08 * 4.3.11 * 11.11.11 * 17.3.12 * 2.7.12 :heart2: My live baby's birth date 22 7 09 :heart2: I'm due another baby at the end of July 2014! :j

for your issue with the tiles, get yourself some lithofin easy-care, and a good quality microfibre mop.0
