Welshdreamer71, thank you. I feel so much more comfortable knowing that my savings are there for when I need them and not having to go into my overdraft.
Rising, you'll give me a big head
. My mum taught me how to cook and my gran was a home ec teacher so we are a family of cooks. I haven't been doing £30 a week for a while but I know I can do it quite easily. I've written my meal plan up for the next 2 weeks and planned my meals around what I already have in my freezer/pantry. I've managed to get my shopping bill to £32.82 from Tesco for those two weeks but it does help that I will be eating away from home a lot for free
I will put my menu plan up tomorrow if that will help you get some ideas.
I am very determined to start of the new year on a good note and pay off this debt. It is helping enormously writing this debt free diary and having people to go on the journey with is great :ATOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -

Hope everyone has had a nice christmas. This is my first day in a week that I'm not visiting family or friends. Unfortunately I can't update my spends as the bank has blocked my card. Basically, I opened too many savings accounts at once so the fraud team have flagged it up and blocked my card and online banking. I suppose it's good in a way but a bit frustrating as I want to do some sale shopping for DS.
On a positive note I'm pregnant again . We had a bit of a traumatic miscarriage in August/September so was a bit worried about putting it on here but everyone is so nice and supportive. This is another reason for wanting to become debt free :j
For Christmas I seemed to have got a fair amount of cash and trying really hard to think of something good to buy. I would normally buy clothes but seems a bit pointless at the moment. Think I will use the £20 my Gran gave me for knitting/sewing supplies. DS go £20 off my Gran as well so may buy some clothes for him or it can go towards a storage unit for his play room.
Anyway, I am going down to the bank today to talk to somebody there as well as the fraud team to hopefully sort it out and then I can get DS's preschool clothesTOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -

Thanks everyone. Well, I managed to get my account sorted but I have to close all my savings accounts that I have opened this month. Apparently having more than one of each savings account put flags up for the fraud team. How ridiculous!!! I'm trying to sort my debts out and the bank are preventing me to do so
What does everyone else do to save for separate things. I might just end up having different pots at home.
Anyway, I now know that I have only spent £32 this month on groceries and cups of tea on trips to see family so I am still on track. I have spent £9 on DS's preschool uniform at Matalan which comes out of another account. All I need now is blue polo shirts, vests and a lunch bag/box.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -
Hope everyone has had a lovely new year. Haven't been on for a few days as have been really suffering with morning sickness but seem to be having a good day today.
Well, some more good news :j. DH checked one of his bank accounts at the weekend as that's going to be his petrol account and it had £3800 odd more than it should have done. This was the account that he is overdrawn £137. Well, once he got home he rang the bank and they confirmed that it was his PPI claim money and he could spend it :j. Obviously the post is behind at xmas so we didn't get the letters. So I had to get us all out the door within 5 minutes so we could go to the local motorbike shop. Half an hour later we came out having purchased the bike DH really wanted and within the £3k budget I had given him :T. Also went to Ikea and ordered a new mattress for us which has just arrived. We can also pay the tax and insurance for the bike in full which is great even though it's only £350. Other bonus is I GET MY CAR BACK :j.
Right, I think that's enough excitement for this post. I have just checked by accounts and I'm still within budget. It has helped that I haven't eaten much since xmas lol. Still have £2.16 to last me until Saturday which only needs to cover milk and maybe snack bars for DS if I don't make any this afternoon. Oh yes, because the PPI money went into DH's overdrawn account, we've managed to pay off his overdraft :jTOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000 -

I've never heard of anything so ridiculous - I had 12 at one point (:o was too scared to combine them .. but I had to in the end as I needed more!)
I have 3 "savings pots" - House & Car (insurance for both, landline advance rental, emergency fund, ta, maintenance & service, fuel) / Others (dentist, presents, hair, clothes, hol, optician) / Pets (dog & cats)
I have a really simple spreadsheet for each one - shows the payment in each month & payment out (to cover anything spent on c/card for that budget). It shows a balance for each budget and an overall "pot" balanceWell, some more good news :j. Hi Rising, think I will have to put a spreadsheet together for all this saving. The bank still haven't closed down the savings accounts they wanted to which is ridiculous but I'm not closing them if I don't have to.TOTAL DEBT £12,212.46/£2000 paid offDebt Free Goal September 2017#106 Emergency Fund £482.53/£10000
