I think they use the back door, as I NEVER see them, apart from when someone knocks on the door. Even then, they are sellective about who they answer to.

I'm still grrrrr about it!:mad:

in which case I'd be on the phone to the cops, no offense but they do not sound like a the type who'll hand over the stuff so it now becomes a case of theft.

Have you went round to the back door?

Well they must have opened the door to the post man to take the parcel in.

We went round twice last night, on both occasions we heard them moving around inside, and the TV volume was muted, but they ignored the door.

I think you need to read OP again....
Bit of a strange one. We had a note pushed through the door yesterday from Parcelforce advising that they'd left a parcel with a neighbour. Unfortunately I know this neighbour through a friend, and what I know about her isn't great.

I know she's in, I watched various lights go on and off. The parcel contains Christmas gifts for us and several family members, and has a fair value to it. What can we do??!

OP stated that as well as going round twice last night they 'just knocked again'. Just implies a period of time fairly recently and as OP posted at 11.22AM they obviously did knock in daylight.

I once had a parcel delivered to a neighbour. The problem was that I had moved 50 miles away, and the company had mistakenly sent the delivery to my old address instead of the new one... so it had gone to an ex-neighbour. Presumably a card went through the letter box of my old address, but they didn't notify me, and the first I knew of all this was when I phoned the company to chase the non-delivery.

All the company had was the name of the person who had taken the parcel in - no street number. The name meant nothing to me, and I wasn't about to drive back there and start knocking on doors. So the company instructed the courier to retrieve the parcel and return it to them. That never happened, and eventually the company sent me a replacement.

The point of this meandering tale (!!!) is that it is for the seller to deliver the parcel to you. They clearly have not done this. Since you have tried several times to collect it from the neighbour without success, it is up to the seller to instruct their agent to get the parcel back and deliver it to you - or for them to send a replacement.

Get back onto the seller, and insist that they deal with Parcelforce regarding the failed delivery, and either get it re-delivered to you, or send you a replacement as a matter of urgency, considering how close christmas is.

  • Well, after several attempts, I got thde parcel. She tried to claim she knew nothing about a parcel being delivered, however when i told her we'd had a note from the driver to say it had been left with her and that I called PF to confirm the address (I didn't) they cconfirmed it. She had a feeble look around inside then produced the box saying her son must have taken it in. However I know that he's not even living there at the moment!!! Grrrrr!!

At least I have it. It's christmas gifts from family. Thanks for the advice peeps! x

Was the parcel opened? If it was still closed I think she deserves the benefit of the doubt before being accused of acting dishonestly!

When you know there might be a parcel coming and know you might be out I would suggest leaving a note asking for the parcel to be left with another neighbor.

My neighbor works but she always lets me know when she is expecting a parcel and asks if I could take it in for her. She leaves a note on her door asking the courier/postperson to deliver to me.

I'm always a bit wary of doing this as it's advertising that I'm out - perhaps let companies know not to deliver to that address at the point of ordering.

If there's a trustworthy elderly person who doesn't get out much, perhaps arrange for parcels to be delivered there? Buy them a box of chocs occasionally, they might be grateful for extra social contact?
