Switch your lights on!!

Its quite dull and chucking it down with rain here on the Saaaf coast so I took nipper to school in the car this morning. It takes about 7 minutes each way on a good day. Well I couldn't believe I counted 4 cars being driven without lights on the way to school and 2 on the way back. Those drivers I could actually see (4 out of the 6) were all women. Obviously I flashed them but all you get is a blank look or even a wave!

Now what can be the reasons for not having lights on when the conditions make it obvious that they should be? Maybe these drivers think they are saving electricity perhaps? Or maybe just because it is daylight (although very poor daylight, almost dusk like), they think they are simply not required? :naughty:

Any ideas anyone?

  • You were able to see them without lights, so why do they need them on?

And now you also get the idiots driving in cars with daytime running lights which are extremely bright, when the skies are darkened, this is as bad as driving with full beams on .

Actually I can also see a lot of cars at night with no lights on roads (mostly parked of course) with street lighting. So those don't need them on either according to you then? :rotfl:

If you do think that way, perhaps it's time to hand your licence back.

Yeah but the problem with those is that they won't necessarily have their tail lights on.

Stupidity, incompetence or misguided fuel saving, take your pick :rotfl:

It's one of my biggest pet hates, particularly in thick fog.... They must think "well I can see", despite them driving about almost invisible to everyone else.
I normally flash my mains, then briefly turn all my lights off as they approach, but this only works maybe 25% of the time.

The people that drive about on the parking lights are really no better (usually Nissan Micra).

On the other side of the coin, turn your dipped headlights on - and make sure that they are adjusted properly!

It always seems to be people in silver or grey cars that i see without lights in fog or murky conditions.

    Just sayin.

These drivers only put their lights on so they can see. It never occurs to them to switch on their lights so they can be seen

Tilt was able to see them, so were lights really needed?
