Well there were none available local to where I work and although there was stock near where I live, as mentioned by others you couldn't reserve them. Wigan apparently have quite a few and some at chorley and apparently trafford centre does. However I didn't want to risk either the store closing before I got there or running out of stock. So I looked up who had them locally, Currys PCWorld had them £99 and I though ah wait the price promise. So I went to currys and said can you price promise this. He said sure but went to check stock and said non in stock and non in any nearby. Strange i thought as it lets you do click and collect. So I went to the nearby pcworld. This time I asked to check they had it in stock first. Yes was the reply. Can you price promise I asked. Yes he cheerfully answered. However upon telling him the price difference there was a face drop and a "I'll have to clear this with the manager". After about 30 to 45 minutes I eventually got a manger come over and say "Unfortunately the only one that has it in stock is just outside of 30 miles". I knew this wasn't the case as I just phoned the branch near home and they had them in. She said she phoned carphone warehouses main number and asked for stock. I explained yes the main number doesn't necessarily have live details of stock. But the website shows it in stock at this branch and I phoned them and they said they had it in stock. So much repeating of "It's how we have to do our procedure". So much heated exchange later with examples of if i purchased this and brought the receipt, could I then get it price promised. they said yes in theory but it's only 10% of the difference it may be inconvenient to do so. I insisted to see the exact terms of this. They simply showed me the website price promise page. So I said there's nothing other than it has to be within 30miles. So I gave them the direct number and another 20 minutes later they eventually came back saying that the main line won't show it in stock as they were due in that day but not delivered (strange they told me they were physically there), but as a "good will" gesture as they were due in they will honour the deal.

Basically have to spend a lot of time not taking no as an answer with these price promise deals. Hopefully this may help someone else do this though.

ICS, though and pretty good screen quality for the price.

One thing I found strange though is that it doesn't actually have a "Contacts" app. ICS normally has "People" as that app, but can't find it on here. It does, however, recognise your contacts when you start an email like Gmail does on a PC.

The way I looked at it was it is cheaper than the last meal I went out on. Let's hope that this doesn't end up the same as the meal did the next day, if you see what I mean.

Edit:- Also, not 100% sure as I have wrapped it up, but it doesn't appear to have a forward facing camera, just one you can use for Skype facing you.

still stock instore in the nottingham stores (i got a look at the screen when i was buying mine half an hour ago). Thanks OP, I'm hoping this (pressie to me ) might drag me into the world of touchscreen devices without too much strain on either my patience or my pocket.

I got one this morning aswell, thanks OP. There is still stock in Perth St. Andrews and Dundee, probably most of Scotland actually

Leeds White Rose said they had just had a delivery of these at 12.00pm today! We bought one for our daughter. They were priced at £69.00 (reduced from £89 yesterday!) but SA confirmed further reduction today to £44.50! He made it sound like they had a few in!

Got 1 in currys Bangor (Co Down) usin their price promise policy
The SA was very helpful but noticed slight difference in spec (1gb ram currys,, 512 ram carphonewarehouse) anyway I kept him talkin an quickly finished transaction.
£39.50 well spent me thinks:j
