    There really is a simple solution to this and that's for you all to put a schedule together for the christmas period cover and deliver it as a done deal.

    I suspcet that it is much too late for that. That was for the start of this - a "suggestion" that makes everyone happy and solves the managers problem. At this stage I cannot see any manager being willing to change things again. Too much water under the bridge...

    But I agree - the manager (and I am still confused as to how she became a he through this thread) and their alleged behaviour has nothing to do with this. I am sorry, but to be honest, if I was getting this amount of backbiting and complaints within my team, I'd be tempted to put my foot down firmly too. As I suggested before, there are ways to handle things. There are the presenting solutions methods some people mentioned early on. There are formal and strictly formal routes if that doesn't work. But it seems this has descended into a competition about who is being treated better than they should and who is being treated worse. That seldom ends happily.
