It's no use drip-feeding information in this manner!
We are not psychic on this forum and so need your help diagnosing your problem. To do this efficiently please answer all of the questions in my post number 5 here
All we know to date is that you have put two DVDs in the drive of a Samsung laptop and you can't watch either!
Please help us to help you.

what is vlc ?
VLC or Videolan is quite frankly the best media player out there, and supports just about every codec (display standard to make things simple) out there, it is extraordinarily powerful and free to boot.
It is the best of all media players and comes very highly recommended.
Pretty much everything you put into it is plug and play with no messing around
I have been using it for well over 7 years

Which lead have the kids lost?
You should be able to use the same lead from your laptop to the TV in the PS3 (HDMI). If they have lost the power lead, have you got a desktop PC?, if yes, its likely the power lead from that will work in the PS3.0 -
Another possibility is that the laptop's DVD Region Coding has got corrupted. Presumably Blockbuster DVDs are Region 2.Are you for real? - Glass Half Empty??
