Your problem is copy protection, I think. Don't you have a separate DVD player? They are cheap as chips these days.0

More information please- Exact model of laptop
- Operating system - Windows xp/vista /7/8
- Is it a DVD drive?
- What exactly happens when you put the disk in the drive?
- Do you get an autoplay menu?
- Will it play other DVDs or CDs?
- Will it read data DVDs or CDs?
- How are you trying to play the DVD, Windows media player?
- Have you tried cleaning the DVD?

+1 on above, it sounds like the CP is stopping the signal from being outputted to an external deviceI'm only here while I wait for Corrie to start.
You get no BS from me & if I think you are wrong I WILL tell you.0 -
does it actually play on the laptop excluding the TV?0

I call sphericals. How would CP even know the playing device had an external video connection? What if it was a desktop PC with multiple monitors?0 -
OP this may be a daft comment, but are you booting up windows media player, before inserting the DVD? My laptop won't play DVDs unless I do it in this order (not a techie solution but might be worth a go).I'm a retired employment solicitor. Hopefully some of my comments might be useful, but they are only my opinion and not intended as legal advice.0
