I took a look at all my spreadsheets... and realised there's things I've already forgotten! I think a trip out tomorrow to pick up a notebook/diary is in order, as I always work better on paper. If I carry it and pop the receipts straight into it, then I can't pretend they haven't been spent! Luckily, the found receipts are from last month, so won't mess up the budget for january!*2016 - the year of the savings account!*

I've also got loads of potatoes and onions in and 5 eggs, so that's going onto my meal plan with baked beans on the side. Thanks for inspiring me .......

Can I join? I'd like to start gently with £360 to include all household and booze. There's only me, DH and two small DCs, but I'm really disorganised and a little bit lazy so end up spending more money than should on food. I have a weekly Mr T''s shop that has been creeping up slowly in the run up to xmas. Need to get it down to £70-ish and then an extra £5 for bread and bananas in the week.GC Jan £0/£360

Just a quick question - please forgive me if it seems a little stupid - does buying birthday presents etc count towards the monthly shop or not?
I don't include toiletries or cleaning products, which many do.
Some include pet food while others don't (I didn't).
Some include meals out/takeaways, while other don't (I tend not to, as I have these very rarely and they're by way of a special treat - so they come out of a different 'purse').Cheryl0 -
Hope I'm not to late to join?
