  • What a fab, well organised thread. Am I ok to join?

Since my boyfriend 'unofficially' began living with me 4/5 nights a week in May my food spend has shot up horrendously! That boy can't half eat alot. I don't mind taking the rap for food shopping as he always pays when we go out for food, earns less than me and has a horrendous commute to work but this challenge seems ideal for me.

I think I'm gonna go for £120 for Janaury 1st- 31st and see how we get on!

Really looking forward to the challenge!

this will b until the 25th when I get paid·

I`d love to get it less, but that`s for two adults one dd 7, and 2 cats,
and think it`s a good place to start.

need a trip to sm today for essentials, also i barely have anything in the cupboards to use up as i dont stock up.

I can't find it ...the only thing I can find relating to it is this http://www.aldi.co.uk/uk/html/product_range/4862.htm but it doesn't list what's currently on :(

  • OK ... I'm a bit errrr fussy :o when it comes to my butter!

I really only like Lur*pak but it's bloomin' expensive  - An*chor is OK at a push but really only if it's on offer (as it's still expensive)

Any former Lur*pak fans who've converted to something else out there?

I've tried loads of others & they're OK for cooking but just can't stand the taste on my crumpets / in sandwiches etc.

    Help!

Hi all, nipped into Aldi yesterday and bought some chicken thighs, parsnips (super six) cannot believe 19p for a pack and face wipes, and wasnt even put anything else in trolley! V. Proud of myself, but then.....went to another sm because I found £7 savings card stamps when I was having a declutter yesterday and bought, reduced Chinese bits and a large viennetta which was on offer, Mr T coming tomorrow, so far so good.

Before I catch up on posts would some kind person please put me down for £3865 for my annual challenge.

I went over my budget last year by £61.54 which considering my house is still stuffed with food, drink and household items I cant say I'm too fussed.

Overall last year was a fight against price rises so standing still was an achievement in itself. I dont think I can go any lower for 2013 which is why I have chosen £3865 to cover all food, booze and household supplies for a family of 5.

I'm off on holiday to the canaries for the first week of the year so will catch up with you all then. Good luck! ;)

A spend in m&s on mainly meat, a bottle of wine and some GF bread plus A spend in £stretchers on coffee. It is an international Nescaf! and I am hoping DH won't notice and difference from normal Nescaf! as he says he won't drink anything else.;)

I have 15 days of my January challenge left and about £185 left (will double check the figures and update my sig in a minute).

DH is starting running again and is debating going alcohol free for jan as he is due to start a new role at work and marathon training. This will help my budget quite a bit.

It looks like willy wonks chocolate factory in my kitchen with all the Christmas sweeties we and DS got so no need to be buying or making cakes for a while.

I am going to do a freezer inventory today or New Year's Day and meal plan for the rest of the month. I also need to sort out what is left in the fridge to save, soup or chuck and this will gave to be done today or stuff will be past it.
    Save £10,500 - £2673.77 - 25.5%
    Pay off £7000 - £1743 - 19.4%
    Make £2021 extra income - £99.75

we do go to c**tco and buy things in bulk if the price is right about once a month but not planning a trip there until end of January.we have enough toiletries to last a few months along with dog food and wild bird food.

    Hi couldsavemore,
I've heard soo much about costco & would love to be able to shop there. Does one need to own a business to shop there, or can anyone go there?

    Thanking you in anticipation,
    Samantha22

you have to have a certain type of job but its quite a broad range they do have a web site now which will list what the criteria is sorry i dont know how to do a link but it will be something like www. costco
.comyou have to pay a joining fee, we pay £30 but feel its worth it
You can if you think you can .

I've recently got a card without having a business. It's slightly more expensive for membership, and has restricted access - can't go in mornings Mon thru Fri, but I was chuffed to get one :) According to their website you have to work in certain jobs, but I joined at a food show and they didn't check I fitted that criteria.
