snakes do not scare the cats, my wife has 6 rubber snakes placed around the garden and the cats just walk over them, my 88 year old mother sugested putting mothballs around the area and it do'es work, they last for 6 to 8 weeks in all kinds of weather.0

Best tip for revenge on cat owning neighbours-be lovely to them.
My cats took a liking to next door's veg patch. I was horrified, and tried everything-litter tray indoors, digging over part of our own garden, chasing, water, gel...and next door was just fantastic. Cats will be cats, he said.
I'm still mortified 15 years and two houses later.import this0 -
One of my neighbours highly recommends placing a couple of empty 2litre bottles anywhere in the garden where they will blow around. Not attractive but apparently it scares the cats from coming back as they can't fathom whatever it is that's moving around.
I was also told that as well as putting down used coffee grounds, try putting unused ones down every now and then. If a cat stomps on them whilst doing their biz, the grounds get caught in their fur and stomped back through the house and into the carpet of their owner. Not fun for the owner but a bit of payback :rotfl:0 -

Hi
Joined today specifically to reply in this thread ...
A good cheap method is to spread chicken manure pellets (from somewhere like B&Q) , as cats HATE the smell.
They are habit forming in terms of where they go to the toilet, so 2 or 3 times a year, I ban the kids form the garden for a week or so and sprinkle a bucket of the stuff all over the garden.
It has the added bonus of being a good fertilzer and makes the grass greener.
I also use it all year round in small sprinkles, in areas of the edges of the garden/fence areas where the kids cant reach. This is especially good for where they lke to slide under the fence to gain access
When I moved to my 4 years back, I had bad problems with cats using the garden as a toilet, but since using the chicken poo method, the problem has gone0 -
Thanks, off to buy some chicken manure pellets.0

The Big Cheese type sonic repellers do work very well, at least for us. I've had one installed for 4 years, and not a single 'accident'. Trouble is we need three of them to cover the entire front area.0

Well, I've also got some cats digging out my veggies and pooping on them. I asked the wife to check the £1 shop for the green gel repellent and a water gun. In the meantime, I'll use a very old method that is known to be effective: the kick in the !!!. I know some people will complain that it can hurt, but no worries, I've got safety shoes, so my feet are well protected.0

Theres one in the sale on Amazon.

No idea if they work though?0 -
Thanks, but the efficiency of those vary greatly according to the reviews, it takes 2 x 9V batteries every 3 months, and my audible spectrum is quite high, so it'd probably bother me each time I step in the garden!
I wouldn't mind an automated sprinkler though, seeing these little !!!!!!s (cats) getting wet would totally make my day and would be worth every penny!
*EDIT* wow, even the word that is one letter away from burger is censored0
